I've had the car about 3-years & the full build thread is here.
I really love the car, but I don't enjoy autocrossing it - I think RWD just isn't my thing. Nor do I drive it much at all - the van is more practical/comfortable, and I'd have to move it to get the Miata out anyway...
The cars is 100% mechanically sound. I'd hop in it & drive it anywhere(if I were 20-years younger) without any concerns of reaching your destination.
It has a pretty decent STS setup on it, though certainly not National-level. The current alignment is -4.1* F/-3.2* R with pretty close to 0* toe at both ends.
Here's a quick rundown of everything off the top of my head.
- 1990 chassis with a 91 engine. The engine has just over 100k & chassis is around 200k.
- Its on Koni race shocks, with 800# front/650# rear springs on threaded sleeves. ISC top hats F/R.
- No rear bar/Racing Beat 1-1/8" hollow front bar with braces. Bauer extended lower ball joints, and R-package tie rod ends.
- Stainless 4-2-1 header into a Magnaflow cat. Stock catback.
- Mazda competition motor mounts.
The engine is stock, with the following work done in the last ~3k miles/3-years:
- Timing belt kit w/water pump, belts & seals.
- All new hoses.
- Oil pan resealed & rear main seal replaced.
- New coil pack/plugs/wires.
- New radiator.
- New fuel pump/filter.
Other new parts:
- Shifter turret rebuilt & filled with proper Redline fluid per Keith's book.
- New trans output seal. I have documentation of the clutch & front seal being replaced 13k ago.
- Vlsd filled with proper Redline fluid per Keith's book.
- New brake calipers, rotors, hoses, pads. Rear pads are Power Stop(maybe?).
- New windshield.
- New driver's side window regulator(manual).
- New driveshaft.
- The battery is less than a year old & has a manual disconnect.
Spare parts:
- Passenger fender, hood, pair of headlight buckets, pair of seats, stock wheels/tires, radiator/condenser, gauge cluster, fuse box, center consoles, and many other random small parts.
The car has a/c, but I was indecisive about keeping it vs. removing it, so I never charged it. I'd presume at the least it'll need a vacuum pulled & whatever leaks are found addressed, but I have no clue if the compressor works.
When I built it, I took the best parts from 2.5 cars for the interior, so it's pretty nice. It's definitely not perfect though. The gauge surround is cracked & was glued onto the dash by a PO, and there's 1 or 2 cracks in the dash.
The top doesn't have any rips/holes, but it's older & the rear(plastic) window is pretty hazy. The weatherstripping above the doors needs replaced.
The fuel door latch doesn't return after you open it, so you have to pop the trunk, reach up by the filler & push the manual-release trigger to latch it shut.
At some point it had a really cheap respray & it shows. There's a slight wrinkle in the RF fender(but I have a good spare). There was standing water in the trunk at some point & I had to replace the battery tie-down mount because it rusted. The plug in the spare tire sump also fell out, but I'm pretty sure it's in a parts box.
Prices seem crazy right now, but I like you guys/gals, so the price is $4000 for everything.
