Manual trans BMW X5 $800 Bad motor

NMNA..  kinda rare.. kinda needs a motor.

The 4WD system in those is kind of useless, isn't it?

I have had my 5 speed x5 for almost 9 years.  They are pretty competent vehicles. With a bigger set of tires they go through pretty much anything.  They have the hill decent control from rover that bmw owned then.  They will also tow 5500 lbs .

There are several X5 manuals on the SFbayarea Craigs with similar mileage for between 2.5k and 6.5k. With good engines. No rust 'cuz California. The 6.5 is a 2005 with a six speed. I wonder...

One of the Lemons team has one. His is the M-Sport edition. Fast as stink. 

It's on it's second engine. The first ate a rod under warranty at about 80k. The repair order has the cost of repairs at $28k. 

It just came out of the shop again. 4 injectors. $2700. He had to eat that cost as the warranty is over. 

Sounds like a prime candidate for a LS swap. 

My buddy has a manual x5, same color as this and everything. I actually borrowed it for a few days the other month when my car was down. It's pretty sweet. (For a mom car.)
