Interesting -240Z pleated vinyl tunnel cover material and an early series 1 240Z steering wheel.

My wife made fun of the factory vinyl trans cover on my 240Z.

Ooof, reading ad, it still needs finished. Yes $4500 is a tough sell. If you could drive it away however, that wouldn't be bad.

Problem is that I really like that  combo and if starting from scratch I would be in for way more than that cause, what is any Datsun roadster worth if it is worth anything? Plus then you need to find a Miata donor and those are getting spendy.

I would have to take it all apart and do it my way. NO idea why they think it needs a custom rear end? That is a warning of something.

Sorry guys, that's idiotic for 4.5 Steves. It's probably merely stupid for half that. There is no upside to it at all. Lemme list the ways:

1. A 1.6 Miata engine/trans in a slaughtered Datsun roadster. Putting the lowest power Miata mill in an early 60's Japanese chassis you can't get parts for.

2. The passenger side front fender/headlight door is damaged (that's the side that gets berkeleyed up on all of these Datsun Roadsters for some reason) and you can't get replacements.

3. The 60's Datsun Roadsters were not exemplary handling sports cars until you did fairly extensive work to the rear suspension so expecting this cluster to drive better than the car the engine came out of is not a likely outcome. That may be the custom rear end the seller references.

There's more but I don't need to go into it. I've had a number of Roadsters, both 2-litres and 1600's. They were fun in their day but compared to what's available at the price point they're selling at, you're better off spending that effort on something that will provide real performance. And you can get parts for.
