The short version? It's gonna break my heart, but after all the trouble it took to get her here, the Impala has to go (won't fit in the garage, and I found some blisters around the drivers back wheel arch)
The long version? See e-bay ad: http://www.ebay.com/itm/181505852647?ssPageName=STRK:MESELX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1555.l2649
Here's a photo album on Photobucket: http://s33.photobucket.com/user/willgrow3/embed/slideshow/Impala%20on%20E-Bay
The important stuff:
- runs
- drives
- 250 inline 6
- Manual "three on the tree"
- 4-door hard top
- European import (so everything is in KM's )
Reserve is set at $9999.00 If you're on this forum and are the winning bidder but the reserve hasn't been met, simply PM me your e-bay user name after the auction and I'd probably still sell it to ya (looking for something around $8k, but seeing her go to a good home is more important)
Cheers ya'll
-Bill
PS
If ya'll wanted to bid just to bid have at it (I could use the traffic). As long as she doesn't go near the reserve I wont hold ya to it

You had me at "three on the tree"...
:) Thanks guys.
Sad to see her go, but this means more time for my Alfa
D: Tell you what. If no one else bids on her in the next 9 days, she's yours for free
Too late, someone outbid me. Dang! sorta
Man, what an awesome write up! Good luck with the sale and hopefully it does go to a caring owner.
Thanks!
I'm actually getting a couple good replies about the writeup. Some nice people are sending me nice e-mails.

I enjoyed your write-up and videos regarding your Impala, and your approach to old cars and living life. Were I closer I would come by to see both you and Felina, but a continent separates us and I am too old and wambly to cross it.

I am 58 yrs old, I drove a 66 Impala Sport Sedan to High School and a few years afterward. I loved the car. Mine was a different color with a different motor and trans combo but I understand what you are saying. It was a cool and fun car.
I enjoyed reading your write up, you are quite witty. I really hate to see you sell your car. You are correct in that a driven car lasts longer than one that sits. The dew and rain will dry on a car that is driven and it sits and corrodes a car that just sits. There are decent car covers, awning car ports and inexpensive ways to keep a car from rusting if you are dedicated to keeping it nice.
I am a car guy that hates to see another car guy sell his ride. I wish you the best, good luck.
I thought that was really cool of them, made me feel warm and fuzzy inside
Cut a hole in the back of the garage for the nose to stick through? I've seen it done for boat outdrives. They just build a box to enclose it. A good header and some extra studs (like a big window) will support everything just fine.

Wow! That guy buys a lot of gifts for his son! I got exactly the same email when trying to sell a motorcycle on Craigslist for a family member here in Texas.

That thought had crossed my mind
Our garage back wall sits about 2-cinder blocks below the back yard ground level. Any holes in the wall would require removal of the cinder blocks, and digging. I thought about ramps, holes in the wall, holes in the door, parking it sideways on rollers, etc.
In the end, this is the better option. It'll free up more time and money for the Alfa. All I have to do now is to stay strong enough that I don't spend the money from this sale on the purchase of another vehicle...
595 views (mostly mine I'm sure) 27 watchers, and the current bid is $6100. I'm very happy with the first day's results. There is a 1966 2-door in Canada that was posted an hour before mine. It claims to be "just restored" and it just passed $13,000

it's a pretty car for sure.
thank you again for that usb-serial adapter.
Ah, it's the wrong year.... My step daughter has gone crazy for the show "Supernatural" in which they drive a 1967 Impala.
You might add that to your keywords :-)
Seriously though, nice car. I wish I could buy it!
Thanks guys! And Patt: never a problem. Did it work out for you?
and if I'm not mistaken Patt's leading the bidding Still hasn't met the reserve yet. It jumps a lot each night, but for some reason it stays pretty plateau'd during the day...
Good times
its because of drunken bidding at night. unfortunately, the guy that wins the bidding doesn't actually have to buy it anymore, per ebay rules. there was a thread about that a little while ago around here.
Yeah, I don't have nice thoughts about that rule, but I strategically placed my ad to end on Saturday 8:30pm PST in an effort to take advantage of "light drunken bidding" (per GRM's advice in their e-bay article).
Even if the winner backs out, I should have a long list of "other bidders" to e-mail.

have not tried yet on the adapter, almost ready though.
i'm outbid for the last time, for the best since i've already got a black impala.
That's an interesting story, and a bit of an oddball car. It looks like you're doing alright with the bidding so far.
It's funny how some of the manufacturers make the Canada/Europe connection. Back when there was a difference, the U.S. used to get the American version of the motocross bikes, and Canada got the European ones. Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense considering the geography.
Man, I don't know if it's the holiday weekend or what, but bidding seems to have completely stalled at $7600...
Ah well. The car's got over 1500 views though! I thought that was crazy!
Zombie: You're completely right. Canada and the US share very little similarities with the roads and conditions of Europe. Aside from their system of measuring... yup, that's about it!
I've recommended the Impala to bringatrailer.com but it seems they still have not picked it up.
I thought they would appreciate the back-story.
And, speaking of back-story, maybe I am crazy but I have watched each of the videos. I think they are great and if I we a potential buyer, I would love to have them.
Don't get discouraged by stalled bidding. All the real bidding happens in the last minute.
My prediction is that the car will increase in price by 40% in the last hour. That prediction means that at your current $7,600 the car will final for $10,640 or better which means you can feel confident it will hit the reserve.
aw man, a Bring a Trailer feature would be stinking awesome. Here's hoping they bite :)
I'd love to see the car break $10k. I've pretty much resigned myself to $8500 being the bottom line (as that's what it cost to ship my vehicles over here).
The crazy bidding always comes at the last second.
Man, I hope so.
Almost 2000 views now, and still no bidding past $7600. I just can't get past how many views this thing's racked up! (only 43 watchers though )
2-days 22-hours left...
Over 2250 views and 75 watchers, reduced reserve to $8400, and it still didn't sell.
Posted, what I thought was, a well written ad on craigslist this morning and it was flagged for spam and removed in less than an hour and a half.
I can keep trying to force the issue....
OR I can try to shoe-horn this b***h back in the garage.
Well, here goes
Good times
Has to be some specialist sites you could advertise this on. Your Price seems reasonable. Did you check to see what other similar cars have sold for on ebay? Maybe re list it?
