Are old Strombergs worth big money now, or is that just for the intake?
A quick check shows Zenth Stromberg 175's selling for about $65 each on EBay. The Carb manifold isn't that rare. With more than 25,000 sold and the majority of those came here to America.
California alone accounts for more than 50% of Jaguar's production. But I know a lot of them have been reused in later cars. It was the common go to for those of us who did not understand the fuel injections and didn't want the expense of Weber's.
Personally I swap the Zenth Strombergs for the HD 8 SU. That's what Group 44 did when they won the SCCA Championship with their XKE. V12
Huffaker used the Zenith Strombergs and made more power, but I'm just not that comfortable with them. Curto stocks parts for both in New York as does Moss motors and others.
For those of us who don't have a left and right side Carb Intake Manifold for the V12 Jag, How are we going to get them? At this point production numbers are irrelevant. It's not like XKE's are in the junk yards anymore.
eBay may be the only option.
All V 12's through 1974 including sedans had carbs. One hint, car fires ruin paint plastic wood and wires. But don't hurt castings.
if you see a carb manifold on an engine. Pull a spark plug. If it has a washer and isn't tapered grab the head underneath and the distributor.
Summit Racing is doing a video series on swapping a LS into a V12 XJS.
They even dyno the V12 XJS and weigh it on the first episode. I've watched 10 episodes already lol
Is this whole thread just viral marketing for a Summit build video series?!

Oooooooooooo. Well done Summit. Talk about a long game.
The LS engine would be lighter and you would have fuel injection.

20 pages isn't hard to reach on a jaguar thread. Just need some Frenchy, Stampie, SVreX, and me to keep the flames lit

I've been consistent, newer stuff is faster than older stuff. It's a hot rod tradition to shove a newer Chevy in an older Ford.
You want to lump a Jaguar because a newer engine is faster than an older engine you wont be the first or the last. They used to do it to the XKE except now-days they are busy reversing that swap when original engined XKE's are selling north of $165,000.
In England Original Engined V12 engined XJS are selling for around £25,000- 35,000 even higher in European countries. With a few special ones well past that.
If you absolutely must have 5-600 horsepower V8 XJS You could be different and upgrade the Jaguar with a Jaguar V8.
I know we are a nation of Monkey See, Monkey do. You just want to follow the crowd rather than lead.
It is your car and I wish you well in your future endeavors.
Here's a hint to show you I mean well. The Leather will probably be hard. Maybe even rock hard. Leather conditioners really do soften up the leather. I've heard of several good ones and even have used Leatherique myself with glove smooth results after 3 applications. I mean the leather once rock hard became buttery smooth.
Any tears in the leather first superglue back together. Do that slowly taking your time to line the tear up before you glue it. A little at a time, use rubber gloves or your fingers will donate skin to the task.
Then leather treat do so in your garage because some people complain about the Oder ( Leatherique smells like pears for example) windows open the smell goes away.
if you have torn seams a upholster can pull the softened leather off easily resew the seams and reinstall the cover.
Most collectors prize worn interiors preferring the patina of age to new. But if you'd rather have the look of new without the expense of new you can carefully hand sand with fine paper going to finer just like a paint job, wear marks. And then repaint the leather ( all leather is painted to give it good consistency )
Frenchy, stop typing and go build an engine!

Yup! Monkey see; Monkey do over here while you just Monkey talk. I don't want to be a leader in doing things with XJS's, what kind of shallow E36 M3 is that? LoL. I do enough leading as a father, a member of my community, and the military. I'll let you take the lead on all things Jaguar V12, because that E36 M3 truly doesn't matter to me. Let me go follow the smart people who made LS swapping an XJS easier than maintaining the stock V12 lump that Jaguar decided to use, followership is important too.
Oh and Jaguar v8's cost a lot of money per hp. Even the supercharged 4.0 and 4.2 engines, I have one. Again, hard pass!
I'll be sure to name my LS swapped XJS "The Mguar" in your honor though.
In reply to yupididit :
I'm just courteous. If you hate all things Jaguar why are you buying one?

When did I say that "I hate all things Jaguar"?
In reply to yupididit :
Yeah why do you hate so much? Did you buy your past Jags just to learn to hate them more?

Ok so I watched the whole thing. In fairness I'm going to play Frenchy. So the Jag only had 120ish whp yet it could do what looked like an easy burn out? Dude didn't want to spend money on the interior yet he gets a Trick Flow top end kit? That junkyard Suburban was suspiciously set away from all the other cars. Can we say product placement for $? Dude says he's a body guy so doesn't build his engine yet he hires a guy to do the body and paint? Also who cuts their springs unless they're in the Challenge?

Either couldn't find XJS front lowering springs or decided to use suspension money on TrickFlow top end kit lol.
I know they did some vouching for a lot of different brands and products. They did shout out jaguarspecialties which is usually the go-to for LS swapped Jags.
