Saw this on CL, no mention of the miles, but it looks pretty nice. I have always wanted one of these, but I am currently in no place to buy one.

Bought my last 323 GTX in San Jose 14 years ago, similar condition, 100k miles, some nice period mods on it for $1800.  Prices sure have changed...

Was it $5800 new?

Was it $5,800 new?

Not likely as my Civic DX, bought just 2 years later, was a $9,000 car and it didn't have a turbo, AWD, not even a radio.

$ 13,258. Which is $28,800 today.

So no, it wasn't $5800 when it was new. Nor was it rare then. Docwyte, this car is almost twice as old now as the one you bought 14 years ago, and time has not increased their numbers. Even 14 years ago, $1800 was probably below average.

I seem to remember the MSRP was 1K higher than the RX7.  I had one for almost 20 years.  Ohio salted roads then Florida salted air did nasty things to it.  I still have the complete driveline up on a pallet rack in my shop. Maybe I'll find one again someday and I'll have a great spares collection.
