I do, it was in the first issue of GRM I ever bought and it's for sale apparently.

1979 Triumph Spitfire with a Mazda 13B half-bridge port rotary engine. If you read Grassroots Mortorsports Magazine then you know what this is. If not then go to their website and search Ro-Spit.
- This car is for you if you want a FTD at autocross.
- This car is for you if you want a top hill climb competitor.
- This car is for you if you want a great track day car.
- This car is for you if you want to drive it to local car shows and cruise-ins and have something different.
- This car is for you if you want to own a piece of automotive history.
- I have only put on about 600 miles since I purchased it.
- New battery
- New fuel pump
- New foam in the fuel cell
- Fuel cell sandblasted and powder coated.
- Oil cooler installed with new fan for better cooling. Car always runs under 195 degrees.
The car has been tuned for max hp and is a bear to drive on the street for any more than about 50 miles. (1 tank of gas LOL)If you were going to drive it mostly on the street then you could make a new map with the top of the line * "Electromotive ECU" Tune is fully programmable
It does need some small modifications to be truly street legal.

So is that the most valuable Triumph Spitfire ever?
That's the car that got me hooked, and I hate both rotaries and OBC's.
I loved the trials and tribulations of that build, it went on for years and years. I'd forgotten the yellow though. I love yellow, but that was just a bit too much yellow for me!

Exactly. Saying it was in the first issue of GRM that you ever read still leaves the field pretty open...

Hey, I picked that color! And yes, it was a lot of yellow--as in, it wasn't an actual automotive color, it was just the straight yellow tint used in PPG paint mixtures. That car was so loud (and difficult), figured it needed a loud color to go with it
I love the color. The tiger stripes were a bit much though.

Sorry oh hallowed patio builder. It wasn't the shade of yellow, it was the quantity of yellow, under the bonnet, the door panels, the seats, the piping etc that got to me. I loved the actual shade, and if it turns out you dictated the quantity of yellow I will revise this post to reflect that too

That car was (is?) loud. I remember Steve Eckerich autocrossing it to test his rear suspension design. It's an awesome beast!

A piece of GRM history. The project was featured in the first GRM I ever read. Wonder what it will sell for? Asking price seems steep to me.
I've never understood listing things for trade only. My experience has been when people do that they are overvaluing their item immensely.
$18K That seems pretty optimistic to me.
If you offered me half that for mine, I'd have to do some serious thinking, for about 3 minutes, before I took your money.
That is a cool car though.
