I think it's got about a third of the work done to make it a driving car ,
The panel work looks decent , better than I could do , but it's still a long way from being finished ,
I wonder if he did the panel work or paid someone and that's why he wants the 45K
I see so many half done projects like this up for sale. I sometimes think the owner suddenly realizes how much time and money it will take to make the half finished project into a real working car and decides he does not have the time or the money and that the result of all the time and money may not even be a very well running car. That time and money might be well spent on other things.
I had this Europa once...
$450 is way harsh for judging the value of this. $4500, I can see. That's a pretty impressive piece of metal work, so it would be a killer deal for a kit. Heck, you'd pay over $20k for a kit like this.
But there is soooooo much work to do. I suspect this guy likes the metal shaping and has been working on this thing for years. Now it's just the boring parts of finishing the welding and then everything else.
I was going to say, that is some pretty impressive DIY metal work, but nobody will ever see as much value in the project as the guy who did the work and is currently trying to unload it.
That is a guy who realized from start to now that his metalwork has come a long way during the project. What was good back when is no longer good enough. He would rather start over with the new skills rather than pour $$$$ into what he is no longer impressed with.
If he is lucky he will find a fish that will bite on the project thinking it is a good headstart on their own vision of owning an alloy bodied one-off. I get fish to bite on fake bait all the time, so they are out there.
That looks amazing, but yeah soooo much work left to do. If it was done to a level the start seems to imply I think it would have no problem fetching even more than $45k. But as it sits, well, probably not. I've ceased to guess as to the value of wild cars these days though. There might be someone out there that it tickles them just right.
yea, i was being a little harsh... but...
these kind of custom projects get into a very narrow subset of car nuts...
sooo who knows if somebody else wants to take it on...
especially for that kind of chicken...
