No idea, but here to say 72 is my favorite year.  Chrome bumpers, chrome highlights around the side vents.  Make mine a vert, candy apple red with small block and an auto.  Perfect summer 'Ice cream' car.

Not necessarily a scam. First, it will need paint. Typical price for that on a C3 Corvette is 8-10k. Vacuum wiper door is up, so figure vacuum system for it and headlights probably toast, so another 1-2 k to troubleshoot and repair that. Interior and engine compartment are pretty shabby, so more cash there. Assume brakes are shot, so another 1k in parts alone if you do your own work. Usually it's the birdcage and rear frame that rusts out, so who knows what shape that's in, and heaven knows what's going on up front. By the time you're done, you could just get a driver quality early C3 for $20-25k. Heck, I just sold a driver quality 72 for $15 just a couple months ago. He'll get his $10, but the new owner will be buying a headache.

I actually think that is a little overpriced for what it is. 6.5K give or take and if you do your own bodywork and the motor actually is solid your into it for another 7-8K in parts if you are lucky and nothing is really bad. 11K if you want to go a bit higher end on the suspension and another 2K to go upmarket on the interior.

Like others said, it's high.  Just buy one that drives for not much more and enjoy.

Not mine, no affiliation, but just an example of what's out there in the early C3 market. This post also shows what to look for in a C3.

Personally, I think the market for a chrome bumper C3 Corvette is pretty soft right now if it isn't in the following categories:

1. Frame off full restoration

2. Bloomington Gold or NCRS Top Flight judged.

3. Roadster

4. Highly desired models, ie LT1 or big block.

5. Full numbers matching original

6. Tasteful restomod

If one is patient, does their research on what to look for, and shops at the right time (late fall/early winter), I think one can get a tremendous value in a car that would be very reliable and a fun three season driver for $20-25K. It is hard to beat the styling, drivability, and fun factor for the dollar. Relative to what else you can buy for the same money, I think currently the right early C3 is a smoking hot deal.

$10k will get you this in Charleston. Granted no chrome and no manual but still money ahead.
