Hmm...not really sure what that is, but the "frame modified to fit a V8 motor" part certainly intrigues me.

Deeply terrifying.
I don't know about the body, but everything else about it looks like some sort of pile of terrible ideas and execution.
Looks like... A simple rectangular tube chassis, with what appears to be... I'm trying to come up with what kind of combination engine test stand and farm equipment which would have a belt-driven diff input. Like it was a freestanding device of some kind run off the accessories on the front of the engine that happened to use an axle for outputs, and they just lashed the whole thing on top of the rectangular tubes.
I do kinda wonder where the body came from. Almost wonder if it was once on an early Formula Ford?
Nobody notice the rear suspension with the lateral leaf spring at the back? The whole green cradle pivots at the front and the engine moves with the suspension.
The V belt pulley would seem to be a snowmobile torque converter part. It also looks damaged.
Any guess at what is poking out of the differential?
Arrow pointing at what looks like broken cast iron hardware
The front suspension is just as provocative: Solid axle that seems to go over the square tube frame. Note the shocks disappear under, not above the axle.
Also confirmation that this was an automatic gearbox of some sort as there are only two pedals
I says, "That ain't a Volvo". It's a butchered Saab Quantum Motorsports Formula S car. 1964 Saab Quantum Formula S - conceptcarz.com It would be a shame if I'm right, because it would be a rare vintage racer.
I'm just glad that while it is in PA, it's on the other side of the state and too far away for me to get into trouble.

Considering where it's from and a wife advertising a car that belonged to her late husband, replacing Saab with Volvo could occur.

the thing poking out of the diff is a diaphragm that seals the differential vent to prevent water intrusion, but can expand and contract based on thermal expansion of fluid and air in the diff. Pretty common on off road stuff and farm equipment since it keeps water out of the inside of the diff.
The front thing isn't broken - that's the ramp for the secondary sheave of a mechanical CVT. Probably a CVT out of a snowmobile, but if it's actually part of the axle rather than adapted, it would have to be something out of a gator or something.
These are exactly the kind of things that always find their way to my garage and go put up on a shelf somewhere. I am so glad I'm in the north east corner of the state.

I don't think there is enough DNA of whatever it was that would make it worth saving. I don't see that it was a Saab Quantum. The pics of the Quantum that I can find show that it has dual a-arm front suspension, not a straight axle.
That looks very similar to the go-kart type device that my grandfather used on his commercial asparagus operation. The driver sat in the center and one picker sat on either side on outriggers it had a transmission set up very similar to that one that was a belt drive I wish I had pictures of it
