Ratty LBCs are everywhere - but check that hardtop. This is close to me and I suspect would be cheap :) I can arrange for extraction and storage until you come pick it up.

I'm sure it would still be way more than I could afford, even if close; but always love the wasp waist look on the spitfire. Some of the other triumphs may be better, but I love the look
Listing is for $123, text is as follows. I'm not sure it will be way more than you can afford.
spitfire sports coupe don't know much about it but it's cool looking. make offer. you haul.
I posted it because it's possible that hardtop is worth actual money, and if you sell that you might get the car for free or better.
Listing for $123 means "l like being mysterious, and don't want to tell you what I'm asking". Unfortunately.
I he wanted less than the hard top was worth to someone local, it would almost be affordable but the Tim I add in coming to get it. But if he really wanted $123, it would be gone long before I could drive there!
I did not say you shouldn't have posted it. I'm sure lots on here would want it. I was just saying that, although I doubt I could afford it (and costs due to distance), I have always liked the spitfires
There probably isn't another Spitfire in this area code, so the value of the hardtop is not that high locally. It might actually be "save me from taking this to the landfill, because they'll charge me $5". The value of old small cars moldering in the desert is not that good around here. There's a complete (like, it was photographed both on the street and in a garage, so it at least rolls) Fiat 124 Spider for $600.
I guess the first person who actually contacts the seller will learn a lot more. I'm offering to go drag it out of the desert and store it at my place for anyone who needs time to get here.
The hardtop is worth some money, but hard to say how much with the side window hanging off like that. Still... the car did look like a good Challenge start. Fortunately for me, way too far away and already sold.
Why put a hardtop on a car when the windows won't seal? I took the top and windows out of my spit. Don't go out in the rain it may rust. Besides it is lighter that way.

The hardtop actually helps the windows to seal reasonably well - at least by old British car standards. I have driven my Spitfire in a rain a few times and the majority of water gets in through the myriad of holes in the firewall (my GT6 is the same way...). Another trick to getting the windows to seal a little better to the soft top on square-tail Spits is to install GT6 door glass and vent windows.
