It's tax return time, and I'm looking for coilovers. Specifically a Ground Control Coilover Sleeve/Koni Yellow setup for a MKI VW Rabbit. I'm hoping for 350#/450# springs but I'm open to different rates if the deal is good enough and it opens up my budget to buy some different springs in the rates that I want.

I'm also open to just the GC setup so I can order new Koni Yellows with a warranty.

Let me know if you have anything you're willing to sell.

GC setups never go cheap enough to buy used in my experience - if so they look like they spent their life at the bottom of the pacific. You can pickup ebay coilover sleeves and collars for 100 or under and then you just need to source the springs second hand - they tend to go for 50 a pair.

In the same conundrum currently. I would really like to lose the heavy factory front strut assembly in the interest of a real threaded body setup that is better and lighter... There aren't a lot of options for the MKI so I'm thinking converting MKII setup may be the better option.

Would love to compare notes as you get it figured out.

You're right as far as them being hard to find. The only thing I ever see for sale on vwvortex are racelands. People either tend to go cheap with racelands, expensive with H&R Ultra Lows for show, or have a GC setup. I thought about assembling my own set through thrift shopping with some generic kits from speedway motors and ordering my own springs, but at the end of the day I did the math and with new Eibach springs it wound up being about $80-$100 less anyway. I just ordered GCs a little earlier today.
