Title basically says it all. I have interest in a Miata Shell. nearly bare shell is fine. But ideally one with HVAC, Column, Pedals, Wiring harness. Does not need to have Subframes or any body panels (Fenders, hood, doors etc) all interior trim/dash etc. could be missing. In fact all exterior panels could be removed via angle grinder.
I am looking at several on FBM but would prefer to get something out of someones way from the forum if possible. The less rust the better. Minor front or rear impact damage okay.
Prefer Title only to display ownership. Looking within 3-5 hours of Central IL. The cheaper the better.
Also would be looking for about 8-10" of the floor Sill to Sill cut out of the middle of the door opening of one to extend the wheelbase.
NMNA and never met the guy. there's a dude in Grosse Pointe MI who brings cars up from down south and parts them out. Not sure if he advertises on Detroit craigslist anymore, but he's definitely on FB Marketplace. here is one of his ads:

I was going to say that guy too - lots of parts and shells

Hoping for a little less $$ than what he advertises. This would be challenge bound so the lower the better.
In reply to nocones :
can't hurt to talk to him and let him know what you're doing. i've had people drop their asking prices by half or more when i tell them about the challenge.

What would you need? I can also consider ones with more meat on the bones if it helps

The "dude" that Angry is referring to is Chris Piku, former SM racer. He dominates the Detroit CL listings for Miata auto parts. His number is three-won-3, six-ten, seventy-7-oh-oh. He lives in Grosse Pointe Woods. I got the "nickel tour" of his place and parts cars 11/8/2024. He's got an incredible NB stash.

Ac parts, clips/brackets/grommets, not much of consequence but a little recoup for a $250 shell
In reply to nocones :
If that first one doesn't work out, I'm working on another one that may come available in South Bend.

I talked the the guy with the Ohio one. He sent some additional pictures. It's "fine" but at a 7 hour drive I would rather point my car 7 hours south for one with less rust. His price is very fair though for what it is. If it was <2 hours away I would strongly consider it.
Mike Winebrenner parts out cars regularly, he probably has some shells laying around.
This one is available a few miles from me. It's a 1991 , the owner describes it as "a 95% complete rough parts car". I can go have a look if you wish. There's no ad for it as I asked people on the MiMiata FB page what they have laying around.

I have located one.
Looks great right? Rust free complete car, runs on starting fluid.
But it's also a golf ball.
There is not a single blue part of the car other then the bumpers that isn't trashed by hail damage.
A friend bought it for the 6 speed and I get the rest. I'll know soon if I'm still on the lookout for a second less complete chassis for 9" of Miata floor to extend the wheelbase.
I now have a lot of rust free Miata parts available.. the front and rear bumpers are kinda nice. It's also the 22A paint code
I'm relieved that^^^ happened. I was feeling guilt about the shell I picked up from you.
I'm very interested in this long wheelbase miata project you are brewing.

No worries I almost reached out to see if that shell was available.
I will know in about an hour if the long wheelbase will be happening. There will be a thread for it if it does.
