I met Ms. McCluggage when she spoke to the SHO Taurus annual convention, my having read her columns in various auto magazines (primarily Autoweek) for years. Her address was very entertaining, including an anecdote about hammering a big silver Mercedes across a Southwest desert Interstate, which attracted the attention of a state trooper. She saw him coming. When pulled over, she adopted a "little old lady" mannerism at the wheel with droopy wrists, etc., and asked the "nice young trooper" whatever the problem could be? He basically went for it, said he must have pulled the wrong car over from the flow of traffic, and apologized and let her go!
