Howdy all.  I normally spend all my time on an MGA forum, but am looking to broaden visibility for something I just finished, to benefit the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

The last couple years for me, like for many, have been challenging. COVID absolutely leveled me, work has stressed me, my MGA restomod has offered stressors and head scratchers, but I think I’ve been incredibly lucky that I’m still alive and that I fared better than a lot of others.

As I recently finished my MGA project (plus or minus an unresolved engine oil leak, electrical gremlins that need chasing, or bolts that need tightening), I had time to devote to “giving back” in such a way that both occupies my time in a way I enjoy, and in benefiting someone who is much less fortunate than I.

I lit on the idea of making a cargo trailer out of the front and rear half of an MGA, using a few leftover parts and a lot of new ones, and selling the final product once done, with all proceeds going to the Make-a-Wish Foundation.

And I’m almost done, pending the final color coat (if requested).

If someone on this forum buys the trailer and sends me paint, I’ll paint it for free. If this goes to auction (beginning of July), I’ll paint it in the same color as my MGA. Note that I’m pretty good with base coat/clear coat, but I have zero expertise with tri-coats, candies or exotics.

As I mentioned, ALL proceeds will go to the Make-a-Wish Foundation. I will not be reimbursing myself for any expenses or time, and I’ll be asking the final buyer to send a donation in the selling amount to MaW directly, and not come to me with cash or a bank check.

I’ve made regular progress updates at THE premier MGA-related site, mgexp.com, and via many vids on youtube:

Here are some specifics:

New tires rated for 1330 lbs each

Overall length of trailer (body nose to tail) is 82 inches

Length of tow bar (from body nose to receiver) is 46.25 inches

Width of trailer (outer tire to outer tire) is 58 inches

½ inch floors, stained and water sealed

Fully sealed/weatherproofed against water intrusion

Internal lighting system

Headlights fully operational, with on/off switch in rear cargo area

What’s left:

Final wet sanding, prior to color coat

Final color coat

Reassembly

For the record, and I’ll state this again for emphasis, every penny you spend on this trailer will go directly to the Make-a-Wish Foundation, and not to me.

If this goes to auction in early July, I’ll likely start the opening bid at $10k (I’m still undecided, to be honest). If someone on this forum makes an offer I can’t refuse, we’ll make a deal.
