Last year was my first time heading to Amelia Island. I was only able to attend on Saturday, but I had such an amazing time, that I made sure to set aside both days this year. Who else will be heading that way? Perhaps we can meet up!

A whole bunch of the GRM/CMS staff will be there--Tim, myself, David, Joe, Debbie--along with the Classic Motorsports girls:
They'll be handing out magazines in the vendor area, where we'll also have our usual newsstand set up. See you there!

Sadly I'm going to miss Amelia this year as I'll be up in Charlotte for the MotorSports Expo.
Mitchell, have you been to Amelia before? You will have an awesome time. Also, stay until the very end of the show. All of the cars fire up and drive away. It's cool watching everything motor away.
David, I went last year. Many of the cars were held in the hotel' sparking garage. I happened to be looking around while a lot of them were being moved onto the grounds. It was glorious.

Yes, they do charge admission. You should be able to buy tickets at the gate. It's one of the finest shows around.
Is the white haired girl one of the classic motor girls? Did she just get there late and hasn't changed yet?
We will be at the Coffee and Cars on Sat hanging around my friend Richard's Alfa, Mark's TR3 and the big show on Sunday!
I had a great time. Totally worth the $80 (ouch) entry price. It's unbelievable how many endangered species and lone survivors are put in one place. Not only that, but to hear them run! I can't choose a favorite; it is not possible. It was also some of the finest weather that I have experienced in Florida.
Saturday was great as well. I spent the morning at the cars and coffee show, where everything presented was gorgeous. After lunch, I was able to drive a Q60 convertible, Jaguar XKR, and Cayman S, in that order. The Q60 was nice, and being a convertible, it made my girlfriend happy. The XKR had no right to be so fast for such a massive and luxurious (but by no means "soft") vehicle. At 550 hp, it is certainly the most powerful vehicle that I have ever driven.
The most special drive was the Cayman S. I have never driven a Porsche, and never driven a mid-engine car. This was late afternoon, so a lot of the traffic had already cleared. To hear it sing right behind my head was such a great feeling. Over the last few years, I have really developed a thing for Porsches; this may firmly plant it on my to-own list. Though not the fastest, it just felt so, so right. As a devout manual transmission lover, the PDK transmission would be a nice compromise if sharing the car with someone that hated driving manuals.
I agree with Mitchell, the show and the weather were outstanding. It was nice to see him there, too :)

Creepy double photobomb is double creepy.
The Amelia Concours and the Classic Motorsports Orange Blossom Tour Presented by Chubb Collector Car Insurance was a huge success for us. This was the inaugural year for Cars and Coffee, which featured hundreds of truly special cars (including Tim Suddard's Heckflosse Mercedes Benz)and our third Orange Blossom Tour. We spent five days touring old Florida before arriving at Amelia for the Concours on Thursday evening. The Concours was one of the best we've attended to date, with myriad rare and important cars to see up close and personal. Our own Andy Reid led the auction tour, and Tom Suddard managed the booth. Great time with great people. Can't wait until next year!
I couldn't imagine the event going more smoothly. I hope to attend the guest speaker events in the future--despite my intentions to attend months in advance this year, I didn't have my daily driver back together until the Wednesday before the event.
Next year, I will sign up for the test drives during the morning. I would have loved to drive the McLaren and the Viper. I'm glad that the co-drivers are not salespeople. Despite my obvious inability to afford the vehicles ($118k Jag co-driver: "so what do you currently drive?" "2003 Focus."), the drivers were in high spirits.
Yeah, but your Focus is famous. I'm really glad to hear that you got to enjoy the event.
For those of you playing at home, Mitchell was part of a Grassroots Motorsports cover story when he was just a wee lad. Since then, he's remained a friend of the GRM family.
