I was in SoCal last week to visit my daughter attending the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena. I took in the annual car show they have on campus, which fellow vintage racer and funny man Adam Carolla MC'd. A very nice diverse display this year with the theme of "Hand Made Cars". I didn't see alums Pete Brock or Chip Foose, but their work was unmistakable. The current students are producing some pretty cool stuff. The new Acura NSX was design by a recent grad.

I was there. Did you happen to go into the student cafeteria? Except for the first hour, I was in there for the rest of the time with the Fisher Body Craftsman's Guild historic model car exhibit. Too bad we weren't able to connect. I had a chance to talk with Bruce Meyer who I'd met the day before at his private garage in LA. He was showing his black chopped '32 coupe. I also cornered Franz von Holzhausen in one of the student design labs. He used to be head of design at Mazda. Now he has that position at Tesla. Both are very personable, interesting car people. Overall I thought it was a great car show and may do it again next year.

I saw Bruce there as well as Berry Mcquire and a few other LA collectors. The Doane Spencer '32 is a beautiful car that stared the whole duece movement. I took a drive past the old HSC shop where he tuned for Chic V. <img src="HSC 2016" />

Neat. I wish they'd held an event like that while I was going to school there.
