I'm planning on swapping out the stock manual/rod actuated brake, high geared Austin A35 rear end for one from a late model MG Midget. I know that there will be some fussing with the emergency brakes and some welding to move/enlarge the spring pads, but that's OK. No problem.
I just recently "heard" from a few folks that it was possibly to swap the MG Midget rear end components right into the Austin A35 housing and avoid fabricating spring pads and retain partial use of the stock ebrake set-up.
Anyone have any info/links/knowledge of this possibility? News to me, but VERY interested in finding out more if anyone can help me out?
Thanks !

The Spridget e-brake also use rods to actuate them. I think I'd keep the axle housing and just swap the diff if I were you and trade out the brake backing plates to get the later brakes. I did this on my Mk1 Sprite. No issues.

Did a bit of asking on your behalf over on the MG Experience Midget board.
The short answer is that it will work. Here is a link to the thread for more details.

If you decide to go this way, don't toss the stock pumpkin. There are Spridget racers out there that will pay you up to several hundred $ for one. The tall gearing is useful for shorter tracks and they are way hard to find.
Not for me, BTW, I already have a 4.55 that was sourced out of a Morris Minor.
Thanks a TON ! ! Especially appreciate that post on my behalf, NOHOME.
I've got a late model MG Midget rear end coming in, bigger axles and a 3.7 pumpkin. Almost have the A35 rear end out of the car, just have to unbolt the shocks. MAN are those axle U-bolts narrow ! ! Maybe 3/16 inch diameter? Probably have new larger diameter ones( and plates) made up or possibly those from the Midget are thicker.
If I make a set of lower plates I'll weld on some lower tube shock mounts as well, the lever shocks are in working order, but the tech of the newer tube shocks is desirable.
Otherwise, once again, THANKS for the help, it'll make things easier for sure.
