Speaking of remote starter solenoids...
Back in the day we had a department secretary (remember when we could call them secretaries?) who had a Maverick IIRC. Single, pretty young lady. One day as she was heading out for lunch, starting her car as I walked past. She freaked out at the weird noise it was making, that I recognised as the starter staying engaged after the engine started. I opened the hood, took off my shoe, and whacked the starter solenoid, perfectly placed for easy access on the inner fender. Problem solved.
Of course, the reason I recognised what was going on was that my Mom's '64 Falcon had done the same thing a few years back, and the same solution worked. And my Sunbeam Tiger did it, too, years later Again, a solid whack solved the problem.
And no, it lead to nothing with the young lady. I'd learned to believe in that old phrase involving swimming pools...
