Can we have a "Name That Car" Thread? I'm fairly awful at knowing what I'm looking at with classics... other than the super well-known stuff and little British cars.
Some sort of 50s' sports racer. Looks cool, but I have no idea...

That's a 1960 Maserati Typo 61-- called the Birdcage. They got their name from the intricate little tubes that form the chassis. Look under the dash and you can see them.
I would never have guessed that. Interesting... I'm hunting around images.google, I don't see a Cisitalia with the smaller inboard headlight.
Glad that's what this thread was about. I was expecting "What name should I give my car?"
Personally, I think that's a bit weird.

I once had a Dodge Aries that was called "Poindexter"... It was a total babe magnet. But that's a different thread.

Come on now....this is an easy one. That's the Mk IV GT-40 from 1967. Not sure if it was this exact car, but one won LeMans with Dan Gurney and A.J. Foyt driving. After the race Gurney was excited and sprayed the crowd with champaign. It was the first time this was done after a race--- and it started the tradition.
I was wondering if GT40. But When I think GT40 I think this:
Not this:
Like I said, I'm not very good at identifying classics
^^ no harm! Yeah, there were a few iterations of the GT-40, the last being the Mk IV. I still like the styling of the Mk1 the best. Those are the ones you see replicated by kit car manufacturers, and even Ford itself! (Although the Ford GT was a modern car with retro styling)
I almost feel like we should move this to the Classic Motorsports forum--- as there are guys over there that would throw some real oddball stuff out there!

After I started the thread, I began wishing I'd started it over there.
