I got a couple but here's one. I know of, so never tried to buy, (and so never will). Car is a 1970 GTX, 440, six pack, air grabber hood, 4 speed, lemon twist yellow, with 100? total miles. Sitting in a black corner of a auto shop with 1/4 inch of dust on it. I know sounds impossible?, and I would have not believed it 'til I saw the car.
Story is that the owner was a youth back in 1970 and was racing with friends in the car. Crashed the GTX and killed his 2 best friends. Insurance company replaced the wrecked GTX with a showroom new identical one. He parked it in the back of his dads garage to never drive, but to haunt him, and remind him every day 'til he dies. I got the story after I saw the car.
Honestly, I wish I never saw the car or know what the car means to the old owner now. I get kinda sick thinking about it....and it does not compare to the owner feels. Sad. It is a barn find that is cursed to always be.
Just like this with a think blanket of dust.
When I bought my Toyota pickup there was a 1969 Mustang Mach 1 in a friends dad's garage. Apparently it used to belong to dad's brother who used to drag race it back in "the day". Now it seemed the Mustang's sole duty was an in garage storage unit.
I went there with $3500 in cash (2002-ish) and offered to buy the car and give a go at restoring it. The guy said "no way, that used to have a supercharged 429 (or something or other)...."
I told him I couldn't pay for what it used to have, unless he had the stuff mothballed somewhere. I upped my offer to $5000 and came back once more with the cash.
No dice.
So I bought a $3000 Toyota 4x4 and had a blast doing dumb things to impress girls for the next 10 or so years
Bummer about the car though. I wonder if it's still there.
In the mid-90's there was a warehouse on my route with a Lincoln MkII. The car was parked outside under a pile of pallets. Owner wouldn't talk about it beyond NO.

There is an "antique dealer" (read- hoarder's garbage pile with a store front) in a small town nearby with 2 very old looking tiny European cars out front. They have been there since I was young, getting rustier every year. They obviously get salt spray from people driving by, and recently one received quite a dent from someone who missed the corner. They have passed "critical rust" by this point I think.
There was an MGTF hiding for decades in my aunt's barn. For years I'd been told I could have it, just not yet. She's a rather unpleasant old bitty, so I always had to walk on egg shells with her about it.
One day I came over and it was gone. She cackled with glee about selling it and me not getting it.
Well, hopefully whoever got it went ahead and restored it. Though honestly, it was probably used for parts.
