I will soon be replacing the exhaust on my trusty 74 TR6, and was wondering if any of you had experience with the variety of systems out there.
Although I love the stock sound, the look of the factory muffler leaves something to be desired. I'd like the new system to be a bit more aggressive than stock, but not so loud that it beats me to death on the highway. Freeing up a bit of power wouldn't be a terrible thing either!
I've been considering the Moss dual- exhaust system, along with the various 4 tip exhausts that I've seen.
Any sage advice?
Joe, this spring I upgraded my GT6 exhaust to a full stainless, dual muffler and header system from Rimmer Brothers in the UK. The old system was custom with the factory manifold, twin straight pipes and was far too loud.
The Rimmer Bros header needed some grinding to make it fit with the stock intake manifold but the end result is great.
I didn't drive the car, it's new to me, more than 3 or 4 times with the previous exhaust so I can't tell you if the header made any performance difference but I did need to adjust the carbs afterwords so something did change.
The car has just enough growl but it's not so loud that I need to put the radio volume on 11, unlike my old system. Spit Bits has a similar system, made in the US, which looks about the same but costs a fair bit more.

Are there any other systems worth considering, or is the Rimmer Bros. system clearly the one to have?

Hehe. I got into enough trouble "cleaning" out the old fuel in the race car.
So the GT6 is not allowed to be any louder.
Still love the 6cly rumble.
