Damn facet died on the GT6.

Glad I still have my CAA.

The GT6 ran solid all day. Even with the extra heat in traffic. Stopped off for supper before the club meeting.

When I left I noticed the pump was not making any noise. Yep she died 10ft later. Vapour lock? I opted wait too see. No joy. Fuse was good, I could get flow if I opened the chokes so it was not clogged. But without the pump she only runs for a bit...

I guess the FACET has packed it in.

I'll examine it tomorrow. I was in my nice cloths to boot.

Evening ended early :)

You should have stuck with the old style electric pump. When those stop you just whack them and you're good for a few more miles.

I am just about to replace my old Facet, with a new one. The old one has lived for a bunch of years sitting right over one of the mufflers in my Tiger. It was old before it went in, from the 70's perhaps? It has what looks like a TO-5 (IIRC) transistor case on the top. The new one doesn't, and was just ordered this spring.

So now instead of wondering if I was going to have a reliability problem with the old Facet. I'll be wondering if I'm going to have a problem with the new one...

Same for this one. Came out of the race car.

I had an SU unit but it leaked all the time. It would get stuck as well.

I'm going to buy a fresh new one and hope for the best.

Funny you should mention Facet fuel pumps dying. I was driving my wife's Spit home from work. On a deserted, fun to drive, stretch of road the care just started to lose power and coasted to a stop. After much poking around, on the side of the road, I noticed how quiet the trunk area was. Sure enough the pump had died. It came with the car, age unknown.

Cellphone call, talk my wife through the parts cabinets in the garage, and I replaced it with another one I had in stock.

Did Lucas buy Facet?

I am tempted to buy a spare and have it in the garage too.

I do have 2 facets for the race car but they have -AN6 fittings on them. One installed the other in a spares box.

New FACET arrived today.

Time to get the GT6 back under her own power.

I always wanted to ask what the deal is with facet? I have seen them in the catalogs. When I put Webers on my TR I used a Holly Blue electric pump.

I liked it so much I used them my GT-6 and the Morgan. The Holly resembles the Lucas unit and is rebuildable. The best part is the Holly is on the shelf of every Advanced Auto and Auto Zone.

I guess the size?

I can confirm this. The GT6 was suffering from low fuel pressure with the prev pump.

WOW what a huge improvement in how the car drives. I suspect the bowls were emptying between shifts (if that makes sense) and the car would dive between shift.

Facet Fuel Pump, 15 Gallon/Hr @ 3psi, 1/8 NPT

I use the -6AN style on the race car.
