Maybe I need to pay closer attention (or it's because a Rolls-Royce is way out of my price range), but I always assumed Rolls-Royce has been using the same Spirit of Ecstasy this whole time.
Interesting.
The history behind the mascot is quite interesting, too. It was modeled after Eleanor Velasco Thornton - the secret lover for Rolls-Royce enthusiast and Car Illustrated editor John Montagu-Scott, 2nd Baron Montagu of Beaulieu. Thornton would die in 1915 when the ship she was on was torpedoed by a German U-boat. Montagu, who was on the boat with her, survived.
