Generally it might be considered less than intelligent to call attention to an auction you want to win and are high bidder on. Dunno maybe thats just me. Good luck hope the couple hundred potential bidders you brought in don't outbid you.

OK who won the Famous "Magazine Car" ? Check out my ad for a drivetrain, will make you a deal!(Shameless plug!)
I won it, at least it stays in the Classic Motorsports Family. It's going to be an organ donor for my GT6 that some kid side swiped this summer.
I have an idea in the back of my (poor lost) mind that the chassis might find it's way on to the track some time in the future.

Mike - How was your trip? I wanted to thank you for the parts offer - that was really nice. I hope I get to meet you sometime. Thanks again Scott
Hi Scott, didn't make the trip yet, my co pilot had to bail out at the last minute. Current plan is to leave here this Sunday with my youngest son, the kid who "stole" my 72 Spitfire and his dorm mate. We'll be in Daytona Monday and heading back Tuesday morning, if there aren't any more snow storms along 95.
I hope to get in some go karting in FL, need to remind the "kid" who's the the better racer. Classic battle shaping up, age and experience vs youth with faster reflexes and a 40 Lb weight difference. The spoiler will be his roommate Vinny, he's used to throwing a car around in the snow back home in Vermont. That kind of driving style might come in handy on a slick track with hard tires.
Hope they don't beat me too badly.
Scott, the parts offer still stands, send me a note.

(Me, Vinnie, Alex)
Just got home from Daytona. My son, Alex, his dorm make Vinnie and I hit the road a 3PM Sunday afternoon. Traffic was the pits, it took us 26 hours from New York to Daytona (Ormond) Beach, I can normally do the trip in 17-18. We got to the CMS garage Monday afternoon and loaded up the car. Tim and his son Tommy showed us around. Nice, practical, set up, some nice cars there and more projects waiting.
Dropped the trailer off at the motel and headed down to the beach but we were too late to drive on it, almost dark.
(Alex, Vinnie)
Went looking for the go kart track, didn't see it. We're probably too tired to do much anyway, My son and I swapped driving (mostly me) and sleeping (mostly Alex), Vinnie navigated (go to I95, turn left in 973 miles). 26 hours in a car is still a long time, 44 hours since I got up up Sunday morning, so we settle for Olive Garden and Mini Golf.
Hit the beach the next morning and drove down it for a bit. The boys pulled out marshmallow guns and "fed" some Sea Gulls (at 45 FPS)
Went to the Speedway to buy GRM experience tickets for the Rolex 24 next month but I was too late, sold out. Had to get a regular 4 day super ticket, still one of the best deals in racing. They had AKA karts racing there. The faster class was lay-down, 2 stroke, karts running the same course as the Rolex cars. Two inches off the ground on the high banks at over 150 MPH and no roll cage. These are some serious speed freaks.
We left Ormond Beach at 11 AM after picking up the required 20 LB bag of oranges ( I think it's a state law that all cars with out of state plates MUST have 5 Lbs of oranges per passenger in any car crossing the FL-GA border) had headed home.
Traffic was OK heading north but I could see some of the same 30 mile long delays in the south bound lane that we sat in the day before. No construction, no accidents that I could see, just choke points.
Kept a steady 65-70 MPH with the loaded trailer but all night trucks kept blasting by at 80-90 and causing the trailer to fishtail from the turbulence, kept me awake.
Looking for gas in Delaware at 4 Am today and every station seems to be closed. Finally found one in PA with trip computer estimating we had 11 miles left in the tank, too close. Speaking of gas, prices at the same stations went up on average 7 cents a gallon between Monday and Tuesday. Why?
Pulled in to Poughkeepsie at 8:30 AM, 21.5 hours for the return trip. Had breakfast and went to bed. Total trip was 2318 miles in 65.5 hours. I think the boys enjoyed the break, I know I love a road trip.
Back down in January for the Rolex but going to fly this time, In-laws want some beach time and my wife will have someone with her to slow down her shopping (I hope) while I'm at the track.
