There is probably some rich car fan out there that would find it worth that sort of money to them to be the owner and get bragging rights.  That happens a lot with one=off cars.  And they usually don't understand why the rest of us don't take it as a mark of sainthood rather than an indication of daftness.

Hmm - I wonder how that would affect the value of the cars that came first and second that year (both Ferrari 250 LMs.  Or the very desirable Porsche 904/6 that came 4th.
