I've got access to 20 camshafts, some used some new, from the Rhoades Competition 1979 Cosworth Indianapolis 500 entry. Also a bunch of internal tranny gears from the same. The son of the gentleman who sponsored that car has asked me to help figure out exactly what they are, and if someone, somewhere might be interested in them.
thanks guys,
mark
Wiki says Rhoades entered an Offy powered McLaren in 79. Looks like they had a Cossie in 80. Not sure if it was a McLaren or a Pensky.
I'd google pics of the cams to make sure they are Cosworth or Offenhauser. After that I'd find engine rebuilders for the appropriate engine and see if they are interested in buying them.
Other than that what about selling them individually with some kind of authentication plate as souvenirs

Add a light bulb and cool lampshade and I'd buy one for my office any day of the week. Put the authentication plaque across the base of the lamp and you have an immediate conversation starter! I had planned on doing this to an old vw 8v cam but ended up trading it for other parts before I found the motivation.
Turns out he has a block and some wheels from the 1980 car also. He's getting me good pictures of everything. I stopped him from taking the block and wheels to the scrapyard!!!!
I'll give him scrap value for the block!
block... cams... might make a cool table
Looks like you can buy an empty DFR block, heads etc for only $7,500

Maybe those parts would be worth more assembled back into a running motor ...
