When I started racing in the early 1970s, there were lots of old 1950s and 1960s sports racers still running and they sold for very little money.  If I had possessed the gift of foresight, I'd have bought every Bobtail Cooper and early Lotus sports racer and stored them, but a) I was racing and therefor by definition had zero excess money, and b) no one thought these cars would ever be anything but old used cars.
