Interesting how people keep trying to solve this problem. Looks pretty nice, but my guess would be that it is a marginal plane that can be driven around on a road. I would also be very curious as to how they are meeting all the car safety and emission regulations (current ones would seem to almost certainly kill any practical car/plane). The super light weight that is required for a plane generally does not work well with the crash safety requirements of a car.

Nice looking at least though.

In reply to aircooled: We all must crawl before we can walk. This is at least a decent crawl.

The way a lot of people drive....well, I'd rather they stay on the roads. If these were commonplace it would either be funny or just "plane" sad as people dropped out of the skies daily.

Now if they could link this up with Google's self driving car. Then you you really wouldn't have to worry about people crashing into each other and dropping out of the sky like flies, for the most part.

I'm not sure. They'd probably still forget to put fuel in the tank. We had a guy killed a few days ago by someone who forgot about fuel. A van driver ran out of fuel, about dawn during the morning rush hour. He left his van unattended, without lights in the 2nd lane of a 5 lane wide freeway.

About five minutes later as traffic was suddenly parting because of this unlighted van, it was hit by a guy in a pickup. The guy in the pickup was killed. The van's owner hadn't even gotten out of sight of the crash while hiking away for fuel!
