Just a quick interest check here - I'm cleaning out the garage, is there any interest in a couple of old rally items:

a Halda Tripmaster (metal case) with T-gear, cable and the original (but really lousy) box; and one new, in the prefect box, Marchal 900 spot beam (this is a BIG light, the Marchal equivalent of Cibie's Super Oscar), it was an unused spare from back in my stage rally days in the 1980s.

if there is interest, I'll put them on the $2015 for sale list. Figured I should alert this portion of the boards first.

I may be interested depending on price. I am hopefully picking up an Opel Manta soon and would eventually like to build it into a historic class rally car.

I might be interested in anything Halda. I've also got a thing for Curtas if you happen to find one of those in the pile.

I'd be interested in the Marchal

OK, have some non-car stuff to get done first, but next week sometime I'll try to post an ad in the $2014 classifieds. The Marchal will be cheap, probably somewhere around $20 plus shipping, the Tripmaster will be higher, I have to see what they are selling for these days. I know they sell for quite a bit in Europe where there is a really active vintage rally scene, but this is the USA, and I don't really want to mess with overseas sales, so I'll be realistic. Probably in the low hundreds, if that's too high, maybe I'll entertain offers. We'll see how it goes.

Sorry, no Curtas - My wife and I always ran either SOP or unequipped in TSD events, and on stage events all I needed was a good odo and Dramamine - yes I was a co-driver there.

I'm interested in the Halda and parts for our vintage rally car. Our 1963 SAAB could use a better tripmeter.

Did someone say Opel Manta rally car?

The only photo of my dad's car I've been able to find. #29 on an old SCCA rally in '78 or '79.

I pick it up Saturday. Probably street car and rallycross to start but I eventually want to make it a rally car.

I'm interested in the Marchal for that price.

I remember at least two large metal boxes he called "computers" that I think took care of time & distance, with a connection to the front wheel, remember setting CAST's for speed and switching back and forth to the next (on the Sunday TSD's I went with). I remember 4 very large Cibie lights on the metal bumpers made from street sign posts that turned night into day. I remember the cage, the gutted interior, the 4-5-6whatever point harnesses on the racing seats. I remember names like POR, Sunriser. And I remember thinking "this is what I want to do when I grow up".

I'm listing the Halda stuff on the $2014 classified forum today. After checking online, I find that this stuff is in high demand in Europe and Australia due to a popular historic stage rally scene, not as much here in the States, but for now I'd rather make it available here and not deal with overseas eBay. I'm listing this stuff at fair prices here until March 1, then I'll list whatever is left on ebay. Not cheap, but definitely somewhat less than the going rate over there.

I found that the Marchal was just a replacement lens/reflector assembly, not the whole light, so it needs a bucket. Blame my faulty memory and 30 years. Fortunately, these lights are available online at not to expensive prices, so it's cheap.

That looks familiar. Where was that taken?

Didn't intend to thread-jack, but I found it on a Pro Rally SCCA Facebook page a few months ago, and can't quite remember. We lived in Cincy and he did rallies in Oh/IN/MI if I remember. wish I could read that highway sign.

In reply to Jerry:

I saw a really nice Opel Manta next to me while getting gas this past summer. Haven't seen one for many years. The guy let me have a really good look at it. Very, very clean car. The only problem with the guy is that he had no idea what a Triumph TR8 was.
