It is a great loss. Phil Hill been a hero to me for nearly 50 years. It's a shame our heroes can't live forever. I admired him as a competitor and as a gentleman. I'd seen him several times over the years at Pebble Beach, Coronado and Lime Rock and he was always approachable and accessible and would graciously sign an autograph or talk about our sport and hobby. We'll miss him.

We know life is finite but when a great person dies I always feel like it's too soon.
While he did have a reasonably long life and one filled with extremely great accomplishments and enviable automotive fun, I can hardly believe that one of the greatest Amercican racecar drivers of all time has finally passed on.
I will be reading a lot about him now and renewing my great admiration for that guy.
Rest in peace .
