Today was a first for me. I dropped off my Mini at a British car specialist to have the steering rack replaced and the carbs looked at. Not being home much, I just don't have time and need/want the cars to run when on the rare occasions I am home. After talking to them, they may be doing the T-9 conversion in the GT6 as well.
Sigh...
On the plus side, after the hour-long ordeal to get it started, the Mini ran well. It's funny how unhappy that car is at speeds under 70 mph. The engine just wants to GO! Hopefully, that will be less hair-raising when every bump in the road may or may not cause the steering wheel to shift in my hands (while still going straight).
I think that I have above average intelligence. I threw in the towel twice this past week. First was when I admitted I don't have the time or patience to learn to tune efi. I sent payment to a local tuner.
Other was trying to help a 16 year old kid last night at work get his mid 80s dodge truck running right. It was above me. Carbs are evil, and paying the man to tune anything is money well spent.

It sounds silly, but spark plugs on my straight six WJ Grand Cherokee. I wasn't really okay with it, but the coil pack frame has a connector at the back that needs to be unhooked before removal. I could get three fingers of one hand on it. After playing with it for ten minutes, I decided the truck was stupid, connectors are stupid, and I was stupid. If it was going to be so hard to get past such a low bar, I was done.

Yep, I threw the towel in awhile back on my turbo Miata, that had already been turbocharged, albeit quite badly.
I've never dealt with standalone ecu's, and don't have the time to learn. Car has sat untouched for about 3 years.
The last few days I started doing some basic things to get it ready for someone who knows what they're doing to finish the job.
At my age my limitations are staring me squarely in the eye, I want to drive them not use the last of my existence wrestling with insurmountable tasks. Time for an Oldsmobile I guess. Or not I still have a torch set and slag is easy

Saw the tittle and thought you had given up on the ES!
You do realize that after ten years of sitting it makes you one of "those guys" we talk about who has a cool old car that they won't sell cause "Gonna get around to restoring it someday"

As a mostly able-bodied automotive instructor, I feel like I don't have the luxury of giving up very often. I definitely have to use time management when deciding what things to suffer through the learning of.
I threw in the towel on the brakes on the Subaru. Could not get the pedal to feel right. I pick it up tomorrow. I don't feel bad.

Not knowing Subby... is/was there a push rod between the master and the booster?
Some cars this rod is adjustable

Yeah, I know. The difference is no sane person would restore the car. They'd sell off the parts and scrap it. So it's worth more to me to sit in waiting than to get crushed.
And crap... I got so caught up with work today I forgot to call the shop and check on the Mini status. I'm supposed to pick it up Friday.
