What would you say the value would be for a competely and correctly rebuilt TR-6 engine, with a shaved head and mild cam? This engine has new pistons, valves, and all the normally replaced items. I'm just looking for a ballpark number. Thanks!

My guess would be somewhere between $2500 and $3500. This really is just a guess, but that feels right. For a buyer to rebuild a TR6 engine they already have to the specs you listed, it would likely cost $2000+. Throw in added value of time and labor savings and general dirty work, and I reach the high end of the spectrum. Maybe more?

Okay, next question. How hard do you think it would be to sell this engine in that price range? Here's my motivation. I bought a TVR with a fully rebuilt but never fired engine. The receipts indicate that it was done right. I'm considering going with a different engine for this car, which is why I'm wondering what it's value may be. Before I sell it, I will take it down, document it with pictures, make sure everything is correct, put it back together and run it on a test stand so the buyer can have confidence that it's a good engine. As I stated, then my concern will be how hard will it be to sell? Any ideas?
