Wait a minute.  This project became non-viable because you had to spend an extra $119.98 plus tax and shipping?

I think Tim was referring to the whole death-by-a-thousand cuts experience of uncovering all of the issues with the "great tub," which made it obvious by this point that this project wasn't going to have any upside economically. Fortunately he's in it for the stories (and the masochism), so of course that's not gonna stop him.

Yes, there was no single issue that made this car not worth doing. It all just added up and it was too late before we really figured it out. So, screw it, we will just dig in and make this Sprite perfect.

It's been my experience that almost no restoration project is "economically viable", but that's not usually why we undertake them. We do them so we won't have to do the dishes.
