So I was rejetting carbs on the Morgan in an attempt to compensate for the crappy ethenol fuel...Hit the starter and the pinion didnt engage cleanly on the flywheel. Some how a resonance was created through the belt from the crank(flywheel) to the exhaust cam shaft. I think the belt ratchted over the sprocked about 30 or so degrees. Released the starter and engaged again not knowing that the timming jumped. So now I have 8 bent valves, and 3 days till the Glen.

Maybe a good question for the Poll...'Has something totally unbelivable ever happened to your car?'

Well, we missed taking the Morgan to the Glen. However, I did get to chat with several mechanics racing BD engines. I had a good time and learned lots, like never let a BDA engine turn backwards(I figured that one out myself). Now the rush is on for a Morgan event in Indiana. The new valves didnt fit, they were too big. So the now the machine shop is opening up the seats and ports for the bigger valves. At least Im getting more "go-fast"! So to recap...16 new valves, 16 new springs 2 trips to the machine shop.

Inbound to Auburn Indiana!

<a href="30-wcc-2009-saturday-29-morgan-coupe-over-steering-1">In reply to Leo Basile: Leo, Sounds like it's par for the course in the vintage race driver/mechanic/car hauler/etc.,etc. game. If you haven't had a chance, you must catch the Discovery HD GT Racer Series 2. The episode featuring Keith Ahlers and his1965 Morgan SLR is quite enjoyable for Morgan fans. Keith brought his very special Morgan to GRL's Wine Country Classic at Infineon Raceway were Morgan was the feature marque. He ran it hard and appeared to have a lot of fun doing it. Jeff Abramson in his '59 Morgan+4 "Baby Doll" ran away from the field in our group 3 grid. He was gone as soon as the green fell. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L4swAYX_Edw
