Just a good well tuned 4 barrel and free flowing exhaust will probably wake it up quite a bit.

And a set of heads from a '96-'01 Exploder, they should bump up the compression a bit too.

I suppose it is only a couple dozen more bolts at that point....
Of course at that point you start running into problems, like the old trans starts slipping.

I didnt realize a 69 was different than a 68.

Might have been 70 for the change but the 460 doesn't fit well in a 68. I built one with a 460.
"If you pull the coil wire to the distributor and take that with you, that works, doesn't it?"
The V8 Ford engine comes stock with eight potential coil wires and runs quite well on seven cylinders.
But kids these days don't even know what's under the hood anyway, you're safe, don't worry !
I was reminded of this thread when I found this: http://milwaukee.craigslist.org/cto/4574027359.html 1967 Ford Ltd - $2500
So I thought that I should share.

I would bet it was 70' with the body style change. 68 and 69 are nearly the same.

I would be tempted to drop the full engine in from an explorer rather than toy with swapping heads.
but then why buy a 302c.i. motor for an engine swap, when there's a 460c.i. motor already sitting here? Rad_Capz, did you not use the crites mounts?

I didn't install the engine. Someone else got it in the car and walked away. I built a 9" rear for it, power disc upgrade from drums, power steering from manual, aluminum radiator with electric fans, MSD ignition, Mallory Unilite, and rewired the whole car. Had all kinds of weird issues requiring the use of a March belt system, GM style PS pump, etc. Like I said, it CAN be done but I wouldn't do it if the 4 dr being discussed was my car. It would be a lot of expense and headaches for a car with very little resale value when done.
