I already ended up asking this question in another thread i started this morning, but the title of that thread no longer applies and i figure nobody will actually open it.
I'm looking for something like an Axxis Metal Master or Ultimate for an 07 Mazda 6.
Anyone have any input/experience in pads in the $50/axle range that won't suck terribly in a performance application for this car? I've been able to find the Axxis Deluxe and Extended Performance pads, as well as Hawk HPS and HP+. There's also the full EBC lineup.
I'd prefer to not spend the HP+ or EBC money, but if i don't have a choice, i don't have a choice.
Worth mentioning that the car will be under 2500lbs. And bonus points for the same compound being available for the rear of a 90 MX6 GT.
I'll check Altrom at work after lunch.
I had MetalMasters on my Mz6--was also a 2007. They were just fine. I miss that car.

I found old posts from you talking about using those pads, which gave me hope, but i didn't know what year you were talking about.
Axxis doesn't seem to make the MMs or the Ultimates anymore for the 06-08 as far as i can tell. I'm hoping i'm just not looking in the right places.
MMs or Ultimates would be the ideal situation since i've already got rears to match.
I am pretty sure that I have a lightly worn set of carbotechs that you could have if you pay shipping.
Let me check on them tonight and I will let you knwo what they are.
They were off my wife's 2006 Mazda 6 4 banger. I am not sure if they are exactly the same. I think the pads between a V6 and I4 are different.
Anyway, she no longer takes that car to teh track so the pads are just sitting on a shelf.

I believe that the brakes on the 1g Mazda 6 were the same across all models of the same year save for the Mazdaspeed.
I'd be certainly interested in them, especially if we could find someone fairly equivalent for the MX6 rears.
We ran them on her car with stock pads. What does the pad look like for MX6 rears?
I have 1st and 2nd gen rx7 rear pads and maybe some decent mazda 6 pads as well.
Let me get soem pics tonight.
Email addy?

Pad for the MX6 rears look pretty normal. I'm more worried about finding a matching compound than anything, because i'm weirded out about mixing that stuff.
I'm pretty sure none of those pads will work in the rear, unfortunately.
Email is celicahalftrac at geemale dot com.
Here's the rears i'm running now: http://www.rockauto.com/dbphp/x,catalog,31,partnum,0881357M,d,BECK-ARNLEY_0881357M.html
I would just run those.
With stock braking systems, you do NOT want to run the same compound front and rear (usually).
On all of our crap can race cars, we run at least 2 steps down in compound on the rear. For example, with Hawk blues, we run HP+ rear pads. With HP+ front pads, we run stock rear.
We tried Hawk blue front and Hawk black rear (we spun alot!).
Let me get you the info and we can go from there.

Well... It's not really stock brakes, though i know the bias is extremely front heavy to begin with. The new front brakes are 1.5"+ bigger than the stock stuff. (Fun fact: Mazda6/Mazdaspeed6 front brakes just straight up bolt onto these cars!)
Only things I can find are the Akebono ProAct Ceramics and the PowerStop Z16 Ceramics as available both for the front of a Mazda6 and rear of an MX-6 GT that doesn't totally blow.
I really liked the PowerStops out on track FWIW.
I sent you an email. The pads I have are carbotech xp8. They are damn near brand new.

I just changed out the front brakes on my ex's Mazdaspeed 6 and they had lasted over 70k. I went back with the stock ceramics per Rock Auto.
