pull the muffler, find a spare set of wheels for some R-comps and go have fun. There aren't any aftermarket strut/shocks currently available for the Accent.
If you want to jump to ST, H&R makes springs and there are aftermarket cold air intakes available aftermarket. You could swap on a GS rear sway bar and change wheel sizes.
You have a gs or se accent?
Yes all the 06-10 rio and accent parts are interchangable. No aftermarket shocks yet. SE shocks would be an upgrade if you have a GS. Most of the aftermarket springs pretty much put your front end on the bump stops I think.....at least mine did. Eibach made some springs that weren't as low as all the others but they have already been discontinued.
Biggest handling improvement besides tires I found was a set of camber bolts and maxing out the front negative camber. I have an 09 SE

KYB does offer a stock replacement shock/strut, no idea if they're any better than stock.
I'm working on a hair-brained idea to adapt A2 VW Bilstiens to my '07 Accent for rally-x, but it will probably be spring before I find out whether it will be possible and/or practical
I just want an lsd. Haven't made up my mind on suspension yet... Please post results on what you decide with the suspension, I'm hoping to get some autox done sometime this year.
Quaife does offer an LSD for the Accent, but their catalog doesn't state which years. Still haven't found pricing or details for it, though.
I'm thinking Quaife and decent suspension and this thing would be a lot of fun on the autox course. Granted I have no idea what class that would be and I'm more of a road course going kinda guy but this car makes me want to take it a course or two this year.
LSD means at least STX (street tires) or FSP. There are some Asian brand coilovers for the 00-04 Accent shown; how different are those to the 09s?

STX (M36 Bimmers,RX8s, WRXs etc.) and FSP (VWs, Focus, Neons, Civics etc.) are mid-pack fast. I saw KSport coilovers listed.. We use them (RR series--w/ custom rates and valving) on our ZX2 Escort--IMO they are not the crap many make them out to be...but my experience is based on the higher-line stuff and not the basic EBay series.
205/50-15 is a good place to start if you go street tires. Everyone makes a good tire--Dunlop, Bridgestone, Kumho, Hankook, Falken... Find some nice, light 7" wheels--which are a dime-a-dozen for stuff in the 12-13 pound range.
You can alsways run that size in a Hoosier too--though if you are inclined to want to use R Comps, 13" sizes may be a better choice.
What class are you inclined to want to be in? What autocross background do you have?
