Is anyone here running 10" wide wheels on an NA/NB Miata? I'm trying to figure out what offset to try. I'd like to stay close to 38mm ,but have no idea if such a wheel would interfere with the suspension. Inner fenders shouldn't be a problem, there probably won't be any. This is intended/dreamed about for a Challenge car, so I'm considering banding steelies, or welding 4x100 centers into some readily available truck rims. I can also find cheap 15x10 aluminum truck wheels but have no idea how I'd change the bolt pattern and offset on those.
949Racing makes a 10" Miata wheel with a +25 offset. +38 would probably put you hard into the shock towers in the front. A +36 15x9 is close enough to require smaller diameter springs and polish the towers occasionally, and a +38 15x10 would be 14.5 mm closer.
Here's a 15x10 +25 with 245/40-15 tires on an NA.

take a look at 949/supermiata, and see what offset their 15" wheels have and what people do to fit them. Looks like they do 15x11 +20 and 15x9 +36. Those both fall into the range of 6-6.25" of backspacing which should give you a starting point. Coilovers with 2.5 or 2.25" diameter springs add more inside clearance compared to stock.
Edit: OK keith wins as usual, they used to make a 15x10 +25 which, again, is dead on 6" of backspacing. That's where you want to be.

FWIW You can buy wheel barrel blanks here https://www.heywheel.com/page11.html may have something useful.... 15x10 blanks are $30

Into the shock tower structure, or into the shock itself? I won't have much structure, it'll be all tubular.
The structure. If it's all tubular, then it's up to you to avoid that contact. I'm assuming there will be a fair bit of tire on this thing as well. Anything wider than a 245 is going to require even more than the 14.5mm of extra clearance I mentioned.
In the rear, I think you might have some rubbing as well. I forget exactly where and I don't have my car with the wheels off right now. On an NB, you may run into the battery box. I've moved them in the past.
Rear will be a Ford 8.8 , so I can make sure suspension links are out of the way. This isn't a Miata, but it will have Miata front suspension.
Keith, the Targa Miata pics are very helpful.
Java230, thank you for that link. That could be my fall back effort.
RedGT, it never occurred to me to look at 949Racing, thanks.

please tell me this is for your corolla?!
In reply to M16ta :
14.35 pounds ! That's nice. If I manage to build my own 15x10s they'll be twice that weight.

Can’t wait to see how it turns out. You have a build thread started for it? ( I went back 7 pages and didn’t see one)

You sir, have made me happy this day.
Since it will be rocking Miata suspension, I wouldn’t go with truck wheels, do something lightweight like 949’s.
In reply to _ :
Well, if you see some light weight 15x10 wheels at Challenge pricing be sure to let me know.
In reply to Somebeach :
No build thread yet, I'm still accumulating parts and materials to start building in the spring. I have the Miata suspension ,brakes and steering bits, Ford rear end,Corolla shell, a build rack/table to construct it on, rear coilovers and a bunch of tubing, sheet steel, and a couple of $20 roll cages to cut up.

Are you going to stick with leaf spung rear? Seems like if you could get a cheap donor Miata would be cool do go IRS with thunderbird 8.8 third memeber someone linked in another thread to a body swapped Datsun wagon with the whole Miata drive drain . Could do the 8.8 and have IRS.
Rear will be a Mustang live axle 3-link on coil overs.
