Ok, I have an 04 Mach 1, which could fairly be called a tad ricey, and I had a fox body gt at some point prior to that, so I do like mustangs, but damn I want a '12 boss 302 something fierce (they just need to make it in grey w/o the goofy paint work). Let me say that I have had BMWs and more GTi's than I care to admit, but I always end up back in a mustang. I am sure that the M3 is a wonderful car, but Euro cars always leave me a bit cold. Driving 911s (water or air cooled), 944s, 3 or 5 series, I always walk thinking "wow that is a really great car, I wonder why I don't want it more". I get in a mustang or corvette and I immediately think "wow what a piece of crap" and then I drive off and do something houliganish and I come back giggling like a child. The 04 still makes me smile almost everyday.

By the way, so many people track pony cars that a suggestion to the contrary is, frankly, silly. Yes, people also drag race them, but that's only because they're fast.

Lastly, I am 6'4" and my wife and two kids (8 & 12) fit in the mustang way better than in the last 3 series we drove.

Well i hope its over now but basically someone came out of the blue with a comment about my k-cars and i responded that the 'father of the mustang' (thread about mustangs, you know) went on to 'father' the k-cars as well. There's your quality by associationThen it all went to E36 M3

Many manufacturers have started using England for suspension tests in the same way all manufacturers use Abu Dabi for cooling system tests or the Arctic Canada for heaters. Never driven in either place, mind you, but that's what I've been reading.

Driven in all three. Some roads in US are just as abysmal as the UK.

I'd take either one without too much trouble. I've owned versions of both cars in years past, including a '70 Boss 302, but neither would touch the new ones. A lot of people forget how badly an original Boss really drove, but the new ones are almost "modern"! Almost! And I mean that in a good, tire smoking, burnout kinda way!

Since I'm not in a financial position to buy either one, we'll see which one depreciates into my range the fastest!

I remember that a buddy had one of the fastest cars in VoTec, A 1969 Firebird with a nasty Poncho engine. He invested a lot of money over three years making it a bad ass. While I had access to my old mans 1957 Bel Air drag car it was not mine, Shawns car was a legit 12 second high school car. Imagine if he started with a a Mustang or M3? I can't wait until my kids are in high school!

On car forums, it's go along to get along when it comes to that subject. Ive been ostracized for playing devil's advocate on this one before.

It's not like I would hand them a loaded 9mm or toss them a vintage signed Hendrix Stratocaster. By the time my boys are old enough to drive they SHOULD be allowed to earn the right to have a HP car. With learning comes responsibility, with responsibility comes reward. If Tanner and Trevor have proven themselves worthy of buying, building and driving a V8 pony car then I will help them. If they choose to spend their money on guitars or guns I will help them with that as well, and they will require equal respect for their "goals".

Besides I might be able to afford one of these two in 10-15 years ;)

I got my motorcycle license when I was 14 and rode to HS almost everyday.

I didn't die.

My Dad was fine with it and actually bought me my first dirtbike when I was 8. He wanted a motorcycle when he was a kid and his parents wouldn't let him have one....thankfully he didn't make the same mistake with me.

I imagine most people would agree that a motorcycle would be much more dangerous than a fast car.

Sorry, but... each kid is of course unique but giving a 16 year old (or letting him have one if he "earns" it somehow) a 400 hp hotrod or sports car is in general just plain irresponsible, its just as bad as giving them a 9 mm, probably even a bit worse. Cue every one who had "fill in the blank" car and turned out fine... in three, two, one....

Dude, I didn't think I cared for this gen Mustangs, but yours is bloody sharp. It just works.

In other news, I just priced the '11 mustang with my USAA car buying service: basic GT I can get for $27,399.

I do not need this. I'm no Mustang fan, but am pretty intrigued by this latest offering, especially since they're finally in the HP race. And it seems like they got the handling sorted. And it seems they are the only American manufacturer that knows how to make an interior.

When I was 16 I had a 16ga bird gun, a 30-06 rifle and a 400hp '72 Monte Carlo.

I was taught to use every one properly before I was allowed to use it without supervision. My father was shooting people in a rice paddy when he was 17. Maturity is different than age.

I was robbed. I had a Ruger 22, Ruger 270, and drove both a Ford 460 and 350 Pickups. And it would have been quite normal to have the gun rack in either to carry the former. At school. Didn't get an Alfa until I was in College.

OTOH, I could both shoot AND drive legally before I was 15.

Test drove a Mustang, and I found it horribly uncomfortable. Of all things, the headrest sucks. It pushes my head forward and makes my neck hurt. Ford Can't be bothered to make an alternative head rest, or one that is adjustable, or anything like that, so the Mustang is of no interest to me as a street car.
