It started like most of my worst ideas do: sitting in the garage, staring at the empty engine bay of my RX-7, sipping cold coffee and letting Marketplace get the best of me.
I told myself I’d take my time. Be smart. Build the right motor for the right reasons.
Cue: LY6.
Six liters of truc…

Oh, this is good.
Reading this made me feel like I was hanging out with my own gearhead friends while wrenching on something questionable and absurd, right down to the Cumby's iced coffee. I'm diggin' it. Carry on, good sir.
And, as they say, more to come.
Ok! Let's have your pothole jokes. That pothole was so deep I I think I saw the Titanic! That pothole was so deep it had an Event Horizon! That pothole was so deep I thought I was in a cult! That pothole was so deep it answered questions I didn't ask! That pothole was so deep I saw the devil's laundry room! That pothole was so deep......

right?! I'm always craving coffee.
Why the iron block LY6... its coming... yes I know... because its CHEAP!
Stock hypereutectic pistons suck big time as do the tight factory rings on the track (heavy loads and high temps). Since you are running a F-body oil pan, get the baffled insert from Improved Racing for that pan. Get a huge, big ass oil cooler as well. Hope you have a catch can in there too. Yes the NBSS with the 87mm inlet (or the TBSS if you want 90mm) makes surprisingly good power, but why not something with a lower profile so you don't have to cut a hole in the hood? Let me guess again, because its cheap, right?
I was building an LS powered FC RX7 many years ago. I finally stepped back from the project and realized that even for street use and an occasional test and tune or HPDE days, I would need a cage to be safe. Then I decided I didn't want to be buried in a balled up '90 Mazda, I bite the bullet and bought a C5 Corvette with at least some modern electronics and safety from the factory.

We have the improved racing baffle, big oil cooler, and a accusump.
We cant use the TBs because thats for Cathport heads (Im not going to run the sqaure port to cath port adapters), NBSS is for square port heads. I've had a hole cut in my hood for an intake manifold for 5 years now. No reason to buy a new intake manifold and a hood.
