Holy cow what is the color on that T-Bird? Coral? Its awesome. I'd pick it up just to have a car that color.

This is exactly what I am thinking.

The Fiesta is in great shape. It is a 2011 and has 38k on it. I have owned it since new. The main issues are that I have severe car ADD and I am tired of making payments on something. Not the best reasons, I know.
I love to enable as much as the next guy, but I can't see how anything 'Mercian from the 80's would make a very good daily... On account of things like Mileage, handling, build quality.
Soon, my teenager will need cheep transpo with low cost to own/run. I'm thinking early 90's Protege.

I daily a 'Merican car from the 80's, though a bit newer than that car. It's been a great daily, very VERY reliable. The doors don't quite fit, the mileage is terrible, and it handles like an old van, but reliable and cheap (except gas) is great IMO for a DD.

When I was 16 all my friends were into muscle cars. One got an 8 year old Z28, one got a 70 Chevelle, one got a 68 Nova with a big block, one got a 72 Monte Carlo. After much searching I got a Chevette. Also a 62 Nova as a project, but dad insisted on keeping the 194 straight six so I never really finished the restoration and sold it as a basket case. I guess it all turned out all right as I have a soft spot for box Novas and am sorta kinda looking for a Chevette to rallycross. 24 years later I have a supercharged Miata and a modded Volvo V70. My friends still have their cool cars. One is a mechanical engineer for Walbro, one builds Hot Rods for a living while I sell tools to guys that do that. I guess what I'm saying is let the kid get what he wants. You only get one first car, and it can have a profound impact on the rest of your life.
