Coverage from our event doesn’t have to be limited to our own outlets. The latest to report on our low-buck extravaganza, the Grassroots Motorsports $2000 Challenge presented by Tire Rack and powered by AutoBidMaster?

It took every ounce of willpower I had to not dive into the comments and start arguing....
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Gotta stir the pot sometimes haha.
In reply to Tom Suddard :
Never read the comments.
if you guys can keep a secret, Brad is on our no cats out of the bag challenge team.
In reply to Patrick :
I might have heard that somewhere already. :)
also the comment peanut gallery is......exactly what I thought it would be. "waaaaaa I don't have the tools or skills so this would cost me 10 grand this is just more rich guy racing" go to hell or show up and have fun, losers.
our 2027 budget is at under $500 with car, engine, trans, new clutch, adapter bell all in there and zero recoup.... they would have an aneurysm.
In reply to David S. Wallens :
who's gonna stop a team made of me, axehealey, Pete(knurled), and bradley? lots of people, that's who, but we're gonna have some fun together in the next couple years building something awesome that does not break the bank.
And that’s always been the point: Stop whining and build something.
Today I learned Jalopnik is still around, cool.

Yeah a couple comments like this showed up on Youtube as well and I just do not get that sentiment at all.
"This guy only won because he had skills that I don't possess." NO E36 M3 SHERLOCK THAT'S LITERALLY HOW THE ENTIRE WORLD WORKS GAHHHHHHAHHH!

I thought everyone had migrated to The Autopian.
Wow, talk about different mindsets...
Jalopnik readers: "I could never do that because of all my excuses!"
GRM readers: "I could totally do that if I just overcome my excuses!"
...Best readership around.
I have mad respect for people who can do it on that budget. I'm lazy and hit the easy button too often.

Some of us migrated here, and are better for it.
I love how if anyone knew me I built this car not knowing anything and having all the excuses in the world. However I wanted a fun fast car and had no money so I made it work and kept asking and kept learning!!

I hit the easy button for my first time and brought a mostly stock car of a model I know fairly well. Our goal was to finish, and we did better than we thought we would.
Going to the event and getting to see the cars that do well with my own eyes gave me some ideas on how to do better next time without going *too* far outside of my skill set. Talking to the veterans of the event got me even more insights that cost nothing and don't require special skills- just some tricks about how to tweak the presentation in the concours, tire suggestions, etc. Reading about it certainly wouldn't have gotten me those insights.
I read the comments. Lots of whine, but no cheese.
This one is my favourite:

If you read the article you wouldn't have to guess ya chowdahead.

Actually read the article and not just react to the headline? Whoa, now, you're making a little too much sense.
