Do I want one? I like how they look and I'm always happy when I see one, and they have gotten cheaper lately.
I was thinking about getting a jaguar xjr, but although the insurance is surprisingly cheap I decided having one as my only car might not turn out well, or a VW tdi, but I don't have the time to commit to getting a manual one with under 300k miles on it because they sell for $6500 easily within hours of being posted.
I don't know much about m45s other than that they are kinda rare and people who haven't had one mostly seem to like them. Is there any reason not to get one? Id mostly just use it for driving to work and possibly autocross it just for fun if I fit in it with a helmet.
They sound really awesome with the exhaust off. We had one at my tech school. Great motors, a few little qwirks (sp?), but nothing major. I think the hardest thing will be finding a nice one that isn't clapped out by some idiot who put 26" rims on it and didn't take care of the rest of it. When I was at the Infiniti dealer, most of the ones that came in were like that, rough and nasty inside, but there were a few cream puffs too. Hunt for the nicest one you can find.
They actually mostly seem to stay nice here, the 26'' rim types mostly stick with gm w bodies and charger/magnum/300s and the occasional ls400 or w140 s class. I actually don't think I have even seen an M45 in person that didn't still have the stock rims. About the only bad thing I can find reading about them is that the mileage is pretty bad, but other than that they sound like fun.

Yes. Yes you do.
As mndsm and I have discussed, as long as you don't care about the fuel mileage, they're pretty awesome.
Hate the game, not the ride...
So I hate the whole "Stance" scene and everything it stands for, but gawd this is sexy. Just a quick Google search indicates that yes, you want this.

They're nice looking cars in stock form, and the design is pretty timeless (every time I see one, I think about how it could be late-model, not a decade old).
I actually don't think that one in the link is sexy at all, personally. I think it would be sexy if it was nearer to stock height, and had some wheels that were more classy and less import-tuner. But as it is, it just annoys me that someone managed to take a great-looking car and make it look like E36 M3 (and handle like E36 M3, and ride like E36 M3, most likely). YMMV though...
I was thinking of one of there but kept comming back to the fact that I could get a newer lower millage p71 for a lot less money. I do think that they are probibly one of the top 10 sedans from a looks stand point from that time period.
per that stancenation article....only 1500 sold in the US? I didnt know that.
Love the one in the article but I dont love the wheels.
I think the only one I saw was the one I test drove when they were new.
There must have been more than 1500 of them sold here total, maybe they meant only 1500 blue ones or 1500 that year. I know I have seen at least 5 in person that I can remember, and there are usually a few on Craigslist. I'm still not sure how I feel about the less than impressive mileage, but I do think other than an xjr they are probably the best looking big sedan in the less than 20 years old and under $10k category.
They look like a Japanese Crown Vic. I think they are super cool. If you can afford the gas, go for it!
