Woohoo, day 1 is in the books for me in B Modified. I'm co-driving Joe Gonzalez's (GonzoBMod on the board) LeGrand which is a lot like mine, albeit with some more power. Joe is in 7th and I'm in 10th, which I'm pretty happy with, having not driven a BMod since the Dixie Tour in February and not autocrossing since May.

Clemens Burger is in first place--and he has really checked out from the rest of the class. He's carrying a 1.7 second lead on the second place finisher. As a reference, that 1.7 seconds would cover positions 2-10. What's cool is that we're all faster than the slower classes--and really almost as fast as the AMod guys. This is a tough class.

Tomorrow looks like another fun course...lots of sweepers and this Nebraska concrete is some seriously grippy stuff.

Honestly, BMod is the most fun I've ever had in a car.

(Yes, even better than that—It's hard to do it right when you don't have room to work.)

Good luck out there Per and Company!

PS - How's the Warbird Miata doing? Has it ran yet?

Tom finished 15th in SSM on Tuesday/Wednesday—not bad for a street-driven Miata that drove to the event. He beat a lot of faster cars, including one of the Ferrari 430 Scuderia guys, as well as a Viper and 911. He did real well.

Make that two 911s.

I've written an update and added some pictures, so look for them to be posted very shortly.

7th fastest today for me in the borrowed BMod LeGrand, but not fast enough to move out of 10th. Somewhat of a 'Doh' but still the best time evarrrr

Thanks Joe!

Great results! Congrats to you and Tom both.

Tom, I'm not an auto-x expert, and am curious about the class you ran in. You mentioned a 430, a Viper, some turbo'd Porsches, and FD Rx-7's. What is the general make up of the class? It doesn't sound like engine swapped cars. What's the typical recipe (if there is one)?

SSM is the old SM2. Essentially it's Street Modified but for two-seat cars. That means you can boost and do engine swaps if the engine was made by the same manufacturer. So..three-rotor turbo RX-7 FC is an exceedingly fast car.

The 430 Scud was actually an ASP car that was running two classes with four drivers.

Thanks for the education. One more question, if you'll indulge me. Where would an FC with an LS1 fall, category-wise?

EMod. Would compete against a bugeye sprite with a turbo'd rotary.

D'oh. Per beat me to it. You'd think we would communicate better since we're in the same room.

There was a V8 FC competing today, although I can't say for sure that it was an LS1 since I wasn't able to peek under the hood.
