To celebrate the fact that I was able to get our pile running today I would like to present the Misfit Toys entry for the 2010 BABE rally.
OMGNFW its a Toyota....BORING.
So I guess I should let you all in on WHY we have chosen to go vanilla for 2010.
MTR is going for the Trifecta of Crap in 2010. The team consists of GRMers JimT (me) Chris (Sonic) Jeff W (littleturqoiseb) and JimW (The Wake) This car will be run in BABE, Lemons and the GRM challenge all in 2010. So out with the oddballs and in with reliable. Its still a bonafied heap, purchased by Jeff W (wait should we trust ANYTHING purchased by Jeff?) for $200. Not running, trunk full of water and wildlife, covered in mold, ugly and dented...oh and with 182k on the clock as well. Its the anemic 1.6l 4AFE engine not the 2.2, but at least it still has a 5 speed. We have no aspirations to win or even do well in any event, but we've all talked long enough about running the "Trifecta" that we decided it was time.
So today I got her running, seems the distributor did not like water, and that missing bolt on the cap sure did allow alot to get in there.
Bonus...the A/C still works. I was gonna strip the HVAC system out before BABE but now that will have to wait till after the rally :)
There's a few other details of our plan which have been intentionally omitted for now but soon all will come to light.
Some test fitting of some goodies I've been saving up for her.
Wheels and tires for BABE, snagged out of a local scrapyard that was shutting down and selling everything cheap. 15x6 with good Khumos on them
Wheels for Lemons. Snagged free off the GRM classifieds. 16x7 Motegis Anyone got some cheap 16" Azenis?
Whether you want reliable or not, i'm going to call you out and say that that car is nowhere near hellish enough for the Trifecta.
Hell, for your remaining budget, you could make that thing LOOK good, too.
But.... for what you're doing, it's a great choice. Please do something stupi- errrrr..... "awesome" to it.

I agree its not very hellish, but there is a small matter of a pending sponsor who insisted we field a car that will actually survive all 3 events :) Or at least survive the first two and show up for the 3rd.
We've been trying on different flavors of "stupid". A badly done bosozoku style is at the top of the list right now but we're open to ideas.

Glad you approve. If you know anyone that needs interior or trim bits give us a holler, not much of the cosmetic stuff is staying so it might as well go to a good home and put a few dollars in the budget recoup.

I'd put some of it up on ebay.... The radio trim if it's intact will fetch a decent amount. If it's got the climate control knobs, they'll get a decent amount as well. Working cupholders? Gold.
I don't need any of it, and i have multiple spares of most of it as well, though.

Really? We've got most of that stuff in tact still. I'll be gentle in its removal.
I'll be running both the BABE and the Challenge in 2010, and yes, my ride is extremely hellish. that won't make it a winner, but it will be a crowd pleaser at both events.
I won't put it in Lemons because the budget is a little tight, and I've got future plans for it.
