What the hell is this? Says it is a 2011 Impala (cop car) with an L77. I was told by my source at the city auction that it is a 6.0L, 6-speed auto, has 36,xxx miles on it (but probably sat 1,000,000,000 hours idling with the A/C on), and was hit HARD in the back by a dump truck. I am assuming the Mack Granite I saw in the impound 3 days ago was what hit it. I did a search and came up with nothing. I have dibs "kinda" at the city's auction. Anyone?

You mean Caprice? Quick google indicates the L77 is a flex fuel and variable displacement version of the LS2.

Here's Wikipedia to help on the engine;

L77 engines were released in the Holden Commodore Series II VE range in both manual and automatic transmissions, along with the Chevrolet Caprice police car. The L77 is similar to the L76 6.0L that was previously offered in North America in the Pontiac G8 GT; and the L76 is derived from the LS2 6.0L that was offered in the Pontiac GTO and 2005-07 Chevrolet Corvette. The L76 differed from the LS2 with its inclusion of Active Fuel Management (AFM) cylinder deactivation technology. The L77 retains AFM and adds FlexFuel capability, allowing it to run on E85 ethanol. The L77 is rated at 361 horsepower (269 kW) and 385 lb.-ft. of torque.

Here's some info on the car;

Yes, Caprice. That would be it. Cool for a swap for $1000?

not a cool swap for $1000- an AWESOME swap for $1000... just disable all the cylinder deactivation stuff..

why disable it? you only need all 8 cylinders when accelerating..

more stuff to go wrong.. the lifters that they use to deactivate the different cylinders aren't exactly the most reliable things in the world, either.

honestly, that motor in a nlight car with proper gearing will get 30mpg so the extra complexity isn't really worthwhile unless you are trying to prove something to your hypermiling friends or something..
