YES!!! I showed this to a co-worker (non car-guy type) and they said, "Why?" and I said "Why the -F- not? That's the real question!"

From the Hi-po performance intake parts isle in the Rural King plumbing department - fits a Triton V10 throttle pretty much perfect!

Wiring hell: My buddy Paul still has a smile on his face while sorting it all out though: Ran fuel lines, did about a dozen other misc. things since the last update. I would also like to thank my friend Brian Elgin who hooked me up with a deal on this HUGE 1/2″ fuel hose. Yeh, prolly a bit overkill, bu has anyone ever really complained that their fuel hose was too big?

A few more updates: Turns out the fly-by-wire throttle I bought didn’t nearly fit on the intake manifold. No worries. With a borrowed MIG welder and a little ingenuity, there will be a solution!

Fuel cell is all put together. I should get my arthroscopic surgery merit badge for getting this thing together. Inside this box there are 2 fuel pumps, filters, foam, a couple adapter fittings and electrical connectors, all to make it looks easy on the outside of the box. At the end of the day though, I’ve got a foam filled SFI certified fuel that can provide high pressure fuel out not one but two outlets simply by applying voltage to the electrically isolated bolts with the comicly large nylon washers on them. More progress on wiring was made. Seems to be taking a lot more effort than I was initially anticipating, but Miles doesn’t seem discouraged. Paul got 10lbs of wired in a 5lb box, though! Inspired by the push-button Chrysler transmissions of the ’60′s I rigged up a linkage to shift the Lincoln transmission from N to D4 using a power door lock actuator pulled from the Lincoln door. Cool, eh? Check out the video

Some more pics from this morning: Made myself an idler AC&PS delete pulley out of angle and a zetec idler: Soldered the LAST WIRE for the V8 EFI/spark/transmission, yay! Now to route them all... Megasquirt and wire bus mounted on back firewall (along main hoop of cage). High temp insulation from Lowes, damaged, $3 per 4X8 sheet! The GPIO ready for wires. Custom wheel adapter for putting 5x4.5 pattern Mustang rims on in lieu of the 5X4.25 Lincoln pattern. Made a little custom tie rod to lock the rear steering, using a junkyard rod end and some metric all-thread. The front was a bit trickier, adapting from 4X4.25 but got it done!

V8 wiring looks much nicer this morning! Next wiring battle is on the other side of the firewall.

Can you give info on the wheel adapters? That could be a option for what I need!

Custom fabbed 'em. I have a buddy with a homebrew CNC "friggin laser" in his garage helping me out. Email me moore at ciholas dot com and I'll send you a DXF of the design and a McMaster-Carr hardware list, disclaimer no warranty on safety, suitability or accuracy of the design, tho ;-). The hub adapter is a piece of schedule 40 sewer pipe turned down a bit on a lathe and TIG welded to the plates. Or once I'm done-ish with this project I'll come up with a cost to fab some copies if you'd like.

Engine 1 RUNS!

Still needs a good tuning, but the Craigslist MS is finally doing what it was intended, for the most part, and the engine burns fuel, spins a crank and sends the leftovers out the appropriate side of the motor.

This is my first project using TunerStudio (used to Megatune) so a lot of time is spent head scratching the software. Getting there though.

Now that the 4-cyl is running pretty reliably, we've turned our attention to the V8, which is a lot of fun to work on. Here's how you check the wiring and whatnot:

Hypothetically, Chris is on the BABE rally right now with it, so I don't know if we'll get updates anytime soon. Last I heard, the rear engine wasn't running yet. Not sure if that's been resolved yet. They also had a hub adapter come apart in Louisville on the way to the BABE. Not sure what the fix was, but I'm pretty sure they're back on the road.

Hey ya'll, yeah, we're on the BABE with this beast currently. V8 is having a trigger wheel sensor keeping it from running. By the way, little word of wisdom here: if you're going to build a radical, experimental, what-the-hell-were-you thinking monstrosity of a car, consider driving it around the block MORE than one time before attempting to go 3000 miles with it! I have discovered at LEAST one bad idea or totally worn out parts car component per 100 miles so far, and we're in just over 1000 miles so far. I was up for about 40 hours straight fixing, driving, checking, driving some more, before the handling was more excitement than I could take and I gave up 200 miles shy of day 1 finish checkpoint. The car was getting progressively scarier to drive - like I mean I nearly wet myself at 60 on a straight piece of reasonably dry highway. As I type the car is on a lift at the Allentown PA STS Auto Repair, getting a whole assortment of totally broken suspension parts replaced, repaired, or rigged up hopefully good enough not to kill me and my lovely and understanding wife who was just crazy enough to take the navigator's seat.
