So I'm going to start autox-ing the daily driver while I get other cars worked on/completed. Now way back in the day when I used to do this, there was just S/SP/P/M for classing......there is a whole other bowl of alphabet soup of classes in the SCCA rulebook.

I'm looking for the Cliff Notes. I'll keep the car relatively close to stock because street car. For the moment that means 200TW tires on a second set of wheels (car is stock with 18's......would like to go down a size to 17's), larger rear bar, and better brake pads. I believe it classes in GS with the aforementioned mods, but where else is a 2012 GTI eligible to play, class-wise?

Not looking for trophies but I don't want to get into the same situation I was in years ago with a Cadavalier Z24 in ESP

Unless the GTI was available with 17" wheels you can't size down and stay in stock class.

I think stock class is the best place for you, so one sway bar, sticky tires and new shocks. Easy.

The new Street (formerly stock) rules allow a 1" change in wheel diameter, as long as the width remains similar, and the addition, removal, or modification of a swaybar.

Progression is: GS, STX, DSP, SMF (or SM). Then Prepared and Modified.
