Call of Ktulu is winter rallycross music, man. That's for driving in upper lower Michigan, covering ground across the utterly flat, snow-covered barren wastes on your way to hypothermiafest. The song itself embodies cold and desolation. Nothing up there but hungry deer and the DEW line.

What you need is some Pantera. Old Pantera. Glam-era Pantera.

I usually had this single song playing when I would rallycross my Golf. Could play air guitar on the steering wheel.

There are a few in there that are more like "calm the berkeley down" songs for if I make a big mistake and want to toss my helmet across the paddock. Call of Ktulu and Cemetery Gates are two of those.

I actually have Power Metal on vinyl somewhere, but for some reason not on any modern format. Will have to remedy that.

5 minutes on iTunes /= much work, lol.

Not like the old days of making actual mix tapes or mix CDs

Nice playlist. Add more Five Finger Death Punch, more Anthrax (both 80s and 90s), and maybe some Sisters of Mercy for variety, and we could swap iPods without knowing it. (Except Weird Al's newest, gotta have that too.)

Hey, I did put a Sisters of Mercy cover song on there. I prefer it to the original...much more angry :)

Anthrax is a good idea. Not a fan of FFDP though

And I'll have a full pack of cigarettes, and will be wearing sunglasses, but it won't be dark. And that reminds me I need to make my driving playlist for "during competition" runs (which Nick will surely turn off so he can hear all the creaks and rattles in the car when he drives). So far, the list has some old Metallica, some Maiden, some Fugazi, some Rush, some KMFDM, some Anthrax, some Shelter, and some Pennywise.

I approve.

I don't have a radio in mine but the truck does have bluetooth and work pays for the majority of my phone bill so unlimited data pandora one on full station random (100 stations in playlist)

Whats the weather look like? we have had some rain up here in Michigan recently:

It's been raining pretty much all day in Columbus. Looks like rain in Hebron today and tomorrow, 40% chance on Saturday. If this rain keeps up and stops Saturday it will be perfect.

I taught my kids to do the rain dance so they've been helping me out with that.

Guess I need to put my new mudders on and make sure they hold air and stuff before I pack up.

I had to add a song to the playlist today, because no rallycross playlist is complete without some Gallic folk metal with traditional-instruments breakdown:

Just because you can buy it doesn't mean it's a good idea. At least, I don't get the hype.

Goofus readjusts his seat for max comfort, probably also adjusting the cupholders so they can support the 64-ounce Colon Cooler from the KwikTrip.

Gallant readjusts his ECU map because the injector duty cycle goes cragy at high RPM because the map ends at 8500 and the last datalog shows 11.3:1 AFR at 10,300 (and 120% duty cycle)

While listening to cookie-monster crunch death metal based on the background music for a bullet-hell video game where shrine maidens and vampires and youkai shoot the berk out of each other: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YYfEELWD730

(then posts to GRM while listening to that thing Evan posted because it's kinda funny and reminds him/me of The Humpty Dance)

Hopefully I won't need to use 5 digit RPM again, but when faced with a broken transmission, your choices are sucking it up and winding the wee out of the engine, or giving up in a giant cloud of fail. Fail sucks, RPM is rad. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4ipMAU7orA

Loaded up on food and beer tonight, took the day off tomorrow to get the van and trailer loaded and tires swapped and tested, and barring anything tragic, should be at the site tomorrow evening somewhere between 1700-2000 depending on how lazily I get things together tomorrow.

We're heading out at noon tomorrow. Already loaded up so I get to sleep in tomorrow. We're going to the hotel when we get there (probably 7-8pm) and may swing out to the venue after that, depending.

Alternately, if we get there before dark may just come to the venue and drop off the car/trailer and have a beer. We'll see...

I took a half day at work tomorrow to get stuff ready. I would have called off a full day but when I do that I just sleep in and lounge around till noon so might as well save the PTO for something productive.

I have to finish putting the 383-engined Camaro together so I can pull apart the Hummer (yes, THAT Hummer) so we can change the converter and put in new fuel pumps because now we're supercharging the LQ9 that I spent the winter installing, because the Owner decided that 500hp is just simply not enough... this in addition to all the regular work, so... time off? What's time off?

I plan on being on site Friday night, like to be 9pm but probably will be later. Because I KNOW that driving down on Saturday morning just won't be happening.
